Losing control after collision, driver crashed car into roadside store

Báo Dân tríBáo Dân trí24/12/2024

(Dan Tri) - After being hit by a tanker truck from the side, the driver of the Honda CR-V probably lost control of the steering wheel.

The incident took place on December 22 on Dien Bien Street, Yen Ninh Ward, Yen Bai City.

According to the image recorded by the dashcam of a car traveling on the road at that time, the tanker truck, while turning, crashed into the Honda CR-V on the right side, pushing the car sideways.

Immediately after that, the Honda CR-V accelerated and crashed straight into the roadside store.

According to initial information, there were no casualties in this incident.

In this situation, the CR-V moved into the tanker truck’s blind spot, probably because the driver was focused on observing on the right side. Meanwhile, the tanker truck made a tight turn and the driver’s vision was blocked, leading to a collision with the CR-V.

When shared on social media, the video recording this situation created a heated debate about the party at fault, with one side claiming that the tanker truck "cut corners" and encroached on the CR-V's lane, and the other side claiming that the CR-V did not comply with the right-of-way rule and should have paid attention to the left and given way to the tanker truck in front to avoid the collision.

"The CR-V driver must have been a new driver. After the collision, he was a bit panicked between the accelerator and the brake. Also, new drivers tend to rush into corners like that. If they were experienced, they would have slowed down a bit," commented Anh Dung.

Meanwhile, nick Tran Man gave his opinion: "Experience is to see a big car, stay away; if it is turning, let it turn; if it is going straight and you assess the situation and see if you can pass, then speed up and pass decisively; otherwise, drive behind it, don't drive parallel to it. Even if you are in the correct lane and have the right of way, you should not compete with a big car with great inertia and many blind spots."

Article 24 of the 2008 Road Traffic Law stipulates that when approaching an intersection, vehicle drivers must slow down and give way according to the following regulations:

- At an intersection without a roundabout signal, you must give way to vehicles coming from the right;

- At an intersection with a roundabout sign, you must give way to vehicles going on the left;

- At the intersection between a non-priority road and a priority road or between a branch road and a main road, vehicles coming from the non-priority road or branch road must give way to vehicles coming from the priority road or main road from any direction.
