Virgin Australia aircraft
Virgin Australia flight VA696 from Perth to Melbourne on May 28 was forced to return to its departure point after a naked male passenger ran down the aisle and pushed a flight attendant to the floor.
NBC News quoted Virgin Australia's announcement stating that the reason the plane turned around was because of "a passenger's disruptive behavior" in the cabin.
The airline also said it had handed the man over to the Australian Federal Police.
Flight tracking site FlightAware recorded the plane returning to its origin 90 minutes into the three-and-a-half hour journey.
Australian Federal Police have confirmed they have arrested a man who ran naked down an aisle and pushed a flight attendant to the ground.
This person was taken to the hospital for examination.
Police have yet to reach a conclusion on the case, but said the suspect is likely to appear in court next month.
"We sincerely apologise to passengers affected," Virgin Australia said.
