It took 2 years to answer the reason for failure
Tran Khanh Vy (born 1999, Nghe An) is a familiar face with an impressive "profile". She is known as the "Hot girl in 7 languages", MC of Vietnam Television, content creator...
Sharing with Dan Tri reporter at a recent exchange in Ho Chi Minh City, Khanh Vy revealed her scholarship application process.
"I feel lucky because I have had failures when applying for scholarships. Failing one school is not surprising to me, but failing three schools in a row is different. Those failures helped me "become a better person". Why didn't I succeed?", the female MC once asked.
In 2020, MC Khanh Vy applied for 3 Master's scholarships but was rejected. After nearly 2 years of searching for the reason, she realized that the most important thing is to know what she really wants.
"I think failing one school might be due to bad luck, but failing three schools was my fault. At that time, I hadn't really sat down and thought about what I wanted and what kind of person I was. Experiencing failure was a blessing," Khanh Vy said.
Determined not to give up, in 2023, she received news that she had passed the British Government scholarship.

"This is a journey of self-discovery. It took me nearly 2 years to think about what I wanted instead of focusing too much on "good writing" and good sentences in the essay.
That answer helped me get the scholarship for the 4th time when I showed in my essay and in the interview what I wanted to do and what good things I wanted to contribute," Khanh Vy shared.
The female MC said she still has a long journey to prepare herself mentally to step into a different living environment, but she determined that no matter where she is, she needs to respect the differences and culture of that place to be able to integrate well.
When asked why she chose to study abroad, the Nghe An girl, who is very successful in Vietnam, said that her spirit is lifelong learning, so she always hopes to have the opportunity to gain as much knowledge as possible. Currently, Vy is arranging her work to choose the right time to study abroad.
No pressure to be famous
Returning to fame unexpectedly when she became known to many people after her clip speaking 7 languages in 2016, she said she never thought of herself as famous so she didn't feel pressured.
"I'm a very extroverted person, I like to meet and talk to people, so I don't put pressure on myself to be a certain way when receiving attention. I'm very similar online and in real life, so I just be myself. I don't think I have any differences or priorities," the 9X girl confided.

Sharing 4 tips to help young people impress the jury when applying for a scholarship, Khanh Vy said that first, it is to find a mentor, create connections, and talk to understand yourself better.
Understanding who you are is a big question in life, what you are good at, what you want, what you desire. Every time you apply for a scholarship, you have to dig deeper into aspects of yourself.
"When you understand yourself, your essay will reveal all your truth. The examiner will only need to glance at your essay to know what is true and what is not," Vy shared.
To always be proactive, the "7-language hot girl" advises that you need to read all the information about scholarships, listen to the experiences of seniors, accumulate and beautify your profile early, actively participate in social activities, talents...
In particular, during the process of waiting and applying for scholarships, she always told herself that if she was good, there would always be someone better. Therefore, she always trained her endurance to be better than others, to overcome her own limits.
With the essay, Vy expressed it using the keyword STAR: Situation (determine the problem you want to solve); Task (the task that needs to be set out to solve that problem); Action (what actions are needed to solve the problem); Result (the result you achieve after those actions, whether it contributes to society or not...).
"In the essay, I go straight to the point with short, concise sentences that are complete without rambling, wordy words or "showing off" complicated words," said the female MC of Road to Olympia.

Regarding interview tips, Khanh Vy pointed out two factors that need to be shown: passion and sincerity. Let the examiner see your enthusiasm, desire, and curiosity about your major and school through honest expressions.
"When speaking, you need to express yourself in order, concisely, with keywords, examples and specific data. What you say in the interview must match the essay, be consistent but also need to be expanded and analyzed in more depth. Finally, prepare questions that come from your curiosity, showing that you are someone who is truly interested in their study program," Khanh Vy said.
