Previously, according to Hai Phong Police, at around 4:30 p.m. on January 13, Thuy Nguyen City Police received a report from the family of NTM (4 years old, student of Thien Huong Ward Kindergarten, Thuy Nguyen City) after a person (unknown background) came to school and took him away by taxi. The authorities quickly began investigating and verifying.
Police have not yet provided the reason why the child was taken away by a stranger.
On the afternoon of January 14, local people, together with Thuy Nguyen City Police and Ngo Quyen District Police, detained Dong Thi Ha Thu (18 years old, living in Hoang Lam Ward, Thuy Nguyen City, Hai Phong) who was traveling with NTM in Ngo Quyen District.
Regarding the incident of the child being taken away by a stranger, according to the report of Thien Huong Kindergarten, on January 13, class 3A2, headed by teachers Bui Thi Luong and La Thi Thu Huyen, had 25/31 children attending school. The two teachers took care of and educated the children and carried out all activities according to professional regulations.
At around 3:45 p.m., Ms. Bui Thi Luong asked for permission to leave early because her child had an emergency surgery at the hospital. Ms. La Thi Thu Huyen was left to take care of and return the child.
At around 4pm that same day, a woman around 20-25 years old came into the classroom and said to the teacher, “Teacher, let me pick up TM,” so the child ran out after her. After that, the woman and the child went to the children’s locker to get TM’s personal belongings and took him home.

Around 5pm, M.'s mother texted the teacher to ask if anyone had picked up her child yet. The teacher said a girl with glasses would pick her up. M.'s mother called her family to check if anyone had picked her up yet and reported that no one was home.
At about 5:35 p.m., teacher La Thi Thu Huyen called to report the incident to the school principal.

Regarding the incident, on the afternoon of January 14, the People's Committee of Thuy Nguyen City also had official information. According to the People's Committee of Thuy Nguyen District, at 4:00 p.m. on January 13, Dong Thi Ha Thu went to Thien Huong Kindergarten (Thuy Nguyen) to take her child NTM out of the school and took a taxi to Tran Nguyen Han Street (Le Chan District, Hai Phong).
Immediately after receiving the news, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Thuy Nguyen City directed the forces to organize a search. By 3:30 p.m. on January 14, the forces coordinated with the people to find NTM and hand her over to her family. The authorities are working with Dong Thi Ha Thu to clarify the cause of the incident. Previously, information said that Dong Thi Ha Thu showed signs of mental illness.
Currently, Thuy Nguyen City Police and Ngo Quyen District Police continue to investigate the case.
