Messi scores 3rd fastest goal in MLS history, all against Inter Miami
Messi and his teammates seemed to have a favorable start right at the San Jose Earthquakes' PayPal Park away stadium, packed with 18,000 spectators, when they took an early 1-0 lead in the 35th second of the first minute of the match. From a corner kick, Messi created a situation for Jordi Alba to cross the ball accurately for center-back Maximiliano Falcon, who was suddenly in the penalty area, to head the ball home.
Messi was not satisfied with his Inter Miami teammates. After the match, he reacted strongly to the referee and was given a yellow card.

This 35-second goal also became the 3rd fastest goal in the history of MLS (American professional soccer league) and Inter Miami Club, after the goals of Suarez (scored in the 31st second on August 24, 2024) and Leonardo Campana (scored in the 33rd second, October 5, 2022).
However, less than 2 minutes later, Inter Miami's defense made a mistake, allowing player Cristian Arango to score an equalizer 1-1 for San Jose Earthquakes.
The home team San Jose Earthquakes then shocked Inter Miami by taking a 2-1 lead and then a 3-2 lead (scored by Beau Leroux and Ian Harkes) before the end of the first half. These goals were interspersed with Tadeo Allende's equalizer for Inter Miami, also set up by Messi, which led to a goal assisted by Jordi Alba.
Early in the second half, Allende scored again with Messi's efforts helping Baltasar Rodriguez cross for his teammate to tap the ball in close to score, equalizing the score 3-3 for Inter Miami.
Messi often retreats to midfield to act as a bridge between the lines and correct his teammates' mistakes.

In the remaining time, despite all of Messi's efforts, Inter Miami players were somewhat exhausted, while other veterans like Jordi Alba and Busquets also did not create any breakthroughs to score more goals to win all 3 points as expected.
With 1 point in the last 2 away matches (the previous match lost 1-4 to Minnesota United FC), Inter Miami has fallen behind its opponents in the MLS Eastern region rankings.
David Beckham's team dropped to fifth place with 22 points after 12 games, one point behind the other teams. They are six points behind leaders FC Cincinnati and four points behind second-placed Philadelphia Union.
This decline of Inter Miami also puts coach Mascherano under a lot of pressure. However, whether or not Mr. David Beckham will fire this coach will be decided after the FIFA Club World Cup (taking place from June 14).
