The Mexican government has declared 47 towns in the southern state of Guerrero as disaster zones, Xinhua reported.

Accordingly, these areas received federal resources to support recovery efforts after Hurricane Otis occurred on October 24 and 25, causing much damage.

Category 5 Hurricane Otis made landfall in the Pacific coastal state of Guerrero on October 25, causing major damage in the popular resort city of Acapulco and surrounding areas.

On November 1, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador announced a 20-step plan to restore Acapulco and other areas severely affected by the storm.

According to Guerrero Governor Evelyn Salgado, as of November 1, at least 46 people have died due to the storm and 58 people are still missing. Authorities are working to clear debris and assist victims affected by Hurricane Otis.
