Northern Vietnam continues to experience cold and rainy weather.

VnExpressVnExpress25/02/2024

A strong cold front has caused temperatures in the North to drop lower than expected and is forecast to remain so for the next week.

For the past two days, temperatures in northern Vietnam have dropped due to the influence of a cold front that is stronger than initially predicted by many meteorological agencies. This morning, the lowest temperature in Mau Son was just over 2 degrees Celsius, and in Hanoi 12 degrees Celsius. Previously, meteorological agencies had predicted the lowest temperatures in the lowlands would be 17 degrees Celsius, in mountainous areas 15 degrees Celsius, and in high mountains below 12 degrees Celsius.

The National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting predicts that tonight and tomorrow, the cold air mass will continue to intensify, with light rain maintaining in the North during the night and morning, and intense cold in mountainous and midland areas, with average temperatures below 15 degrees Celsius. From February 28th, the cold air mass will gradually weaken, and temperatures in the North will rise, but not significantly.

According to the US Accuweather website, from now until next Tuesday, Hanoi's temperature will generally be 16-20 degrees Celsius, with the highest daily temperatures rising to 22-24 degrees Celsius over the following two days, before dropping to 16-17 degrees Celsius. High-altitude areas above 1,500 meters above sea level, such as Sa Pa ( Lao Cai ), will experience temperatures of 13-22 degrees Celsius in the early days of next week.

Central Vietnam, specifically the Thanh Hoa - Ha Tinh region, is also affected by the cold air mass, so from now until the end of February 27th, the weather will remain rainy and cold. After that, the rain will decrease as the cold air mass weakens.

The weather in Southern Vietnam and the Central Highlands will remain relatively stable next week, with generally no rain and sunny skies. The Southeast region will continue to experience hot weather with temperatures commonly reaching 35-36 degrees Celsius, while the Central Highlands will see temperatures between 30-33 degrees Celsius.

The meteorological agency forecasts that around March 1-2, a new cold front will affect the North, causing cold weather to return, with the possibility of severe cold in the early days of March.
