Over the past 24 hours, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces have experienced virtually no rain. Floodwaters have receded from villages and residential areas, and people are now cleaning up their homes.

In Quy Chau district, the hardest-hit area in Nghe An province with over 1,100 households flooded to a depth of 0.5-2 meters, the floodwaters have receded this afternoon, leaving behind a thick layer of mud 3-5 cm deep on the ground. Inside people's homes, belongings are also covered in mud and scattered. Police, soldiers, and local militia are assisting residents in cleaning up roads and household items.

"The water came so quickly, within an hour, that the family didn't have time to move our belongings. We estimate the damage at tens of millions of dong due to some electronic items like the refrigerator and television getting soaked. My wife and I are trying to clean up the mud within two days," said a resident of Tan Lac town, which was once flooded up to 2 meters.

Similarly, in the seven midland and mountainous districts of Que Phong, Thanh Chuong, Nam Dan, Do Luong, Yen Thanh, Nghia Dan, and Ky Son, floodwaters have receded since early this morning. Currently, only light rain remains in some areas.

Thanh Hoa province has not recorded any flooding in residential areas, only in crops and roads. According to the Department of Transport, some national, provincial, and inter-district highways that were previously flooded to a depth of 0.5-2 meters in Thanh Hoa City, Ha Trung, Ngoc Lac, etc., have now returned to normal operation.

The tropical depression, after entering Thua Thien Hue, weakened and moved into Laos early on September 26th, but its circulation successively caused rain in Quang Binh, Ha Tinh , Nghe An, Thanh Hoa provinces and some northern provinces. According to meteorological statistics, from 8 PM on September 26th to 8 PM on September 27th, Chau Binh 2 (Nghe An) received 390 mm of rain, Son Kim 3 (Ha Tinh) 140 mm, and Yen My (Thanh Hoa) 240 mm.

Nghe An was the epicenter of the heavy rain, with over 1,600 houses flooded and 830 isolated; 40 roads and 76 bridges were submerged. Thanh Hoa also experienced heavy rainfall, with nearly 900 hectares of rice fields and over 500 hectares of other crops flooded. In Ha Tinh, National Highway 8A suffered landslides along the mountainside.

The National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting predicts that tonight and tomorrow, the Northern region and Thanh Hoa will experience widespread rainfall of 30-70 mm, with some areas receiving over 100 mm. From tomorrow afternoon, the rain in these areas will decrease rapidly.
