Pursuant to the Memorandum of Understanding on tourism cooperation signed by Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung and Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation MG Reshetnikov, the two sides determined that, through the working mechanism of the Vietnam-Russia Working Group on tourism co-chaired by Deputy Ministers, Vietnam and the Russian Federation commit to promoting the exchange of experience in developing tourism infrastructure, policies and measures to develop safe tourism for tourists; sharing research and publications in the field of marketing, organizing survey trips for travel agencies and representatives of mass media agencies of the two countries; promoting the establishment of relations between Vietnamese and Russian tourism businesses; organizing conferences and seminars with the aim of introducing travel agencies, hotels and airlines of the two sides to the tourism markets of Vietnam and Russia; implementing joint projects and tourism products; Increase participation in international tourism events held in the two countries; cooperate in developing human resources for the tourism industry, train and improve Vietnamese and Russian language proficiency for tour guides and interpreters; support each other in international tourism organizations...
Russians have a huge demand for travel to Asian countries like Vietnam. Russian tourists especially love resort tourism associated with coastal eco-tourism in Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, etc. in Vietnam.
Nowadays, more and more Russian tourists choose Vietnam as a destination to explore a country with a long history, unique traditional culture, rich national identity and an attractive, safe destination with great potential for tourism development.
With rapid growth, high proportion and high spending of visitors from this market, Russia is identified as one of the key markets of Vietnam tourism, attracting the attention of many travel companies and high-end resorts in Vietnam. Meanwhile, traveling to the land of birch with its rich and diverse culture is always the dream of many Vietnamese people.
In recent years, tourism exchanges between Russia and Vietnam have flourished and grown significantly. Through efforts to promote and advertise, Vietnam's unilateral visa exemption policy for Russian citizens, for many years, the number of Russian visitors to Vietnam has always been among the top European markets with many tourists visiting Vietnam.
In 2024, nearly 240,000 Russian tourists will visit Vietnam, an increase of nearly 85% compared to 2023. The number of flights between Russia and Vietnam is expected to increase, Vietnam can welcome about 430,000 Russian visitors in 2025, double that of 2024. In the opposite direction, the number of Vietnamese tourists to the Russian Federation is increasing positively.
Celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Russia diplomatic relations, witnessed by General Secretary To Lam and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, on May 9, 2025, in Moscow, Vietnam Airlines' direct flight between Hanoi and Moscow was officially launched with a frequency of 02 round trips/week, promising to open a new chapter to continue promoting Vietnam-Russia tourism cooperation, creating more opportunities for cultural and tourism exchanges between Vietnam and the Russian Federation, promoting the increase in the number of two-way tourists in the coming time.
Based on the newly signed Memorandum of Understanding on Tourism Cooperation, in 2025, along with the plan to organize the Second Meeting of the Tourism Working Group in Vietnam, the two sides plan to coordinate in organizing the Program to introduce Vietnam tourism, connecting businesses in the Russian Federation, creating opportunities to connect travel agencies, airlines and tourism businesses of the two countries, promoting bilateral tourist flows.
In addition, the Vietnam Week in Moscow, scheduled to take place at the end of July 2025 with the participation of airlines and tourism businesses, is expected to be an event that will create a boost for the development of Vietnam-Russia tourism. These events are activities to concretize the joint statements between the two countries on developing the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the new situation, as well as the Vietnam-Russia Cooperation Master Plan until 2030 approved by the two governments.
Along with effective contributions to the socio-economic development of each country, through the implementation of the contents in the signed documents, tourism cooperation is expected to continue to be one of the bright spots, contributing to bringing the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership into deeper and more substantial depth./.
