Mong Cai currently has 4 routes and 15 tourist attractions recognized by the province. To attract tourists to spiritual tourist attractions, Mong Cai City has devoted many resources and promoted socialization to preserve, embellish and effectively promote the cultural and historical values of historical and cultural relics in the area. The results show that tourists are interested in sightseeing and worshiping at spiritual tourist attractions and famous landscapes in the area, such as Xa Tac Temple, Linh Son Pagoda, Van Linh Khanh Pagoda, Xuan Lan Stone Pagoda, Tra Co Communal House, Van Ninh Communal House, Dan Tien Communal House. Along with traditional folk festivals, Mong Cai has recently had more cultural festivals with modern colors, such as Mong Cai Summer Festival, Sim Flower Festival on the Border. In addition, activities on Tran Phu walking street, Hong Van ecological garden, fireworks display on Ka Long bridge, Ao Dai performance and street festival, Countryside Fair on Tran Phu walking street, flag-raising ceremony in formation simulating Vietnam map and red flag and yellow star performance, traditional Ao Dai performance in Sa Vi, folk song and dance festivals, folk game exchanges... also attract many tourists.
Currently, Mong Cai City has over 200 accommodation facilities, including 22 hotels with 1-5 star standards and standard accommodation facilities with nearly 7,000 beds, basically meeting the accommodation needs of tourists when coming to Mong Cai. Mr. To Van Hien, Deputy General Director of Hong Van Hotel Joint Stock Company, said: Hong Van Hotel with 5-star standards, 328 rooms, fully meets the needs of tourists. During the summer, the unit has many preferential programs with prices starting from only 1.2 million VND, guests can enjoy full services. With the scale of Hong Van, it can serve thousands of tourists at the same time.
In order to effectively carry out the State management of tourism and travel, creating a professional and modern tourism and travel business environment, in March 2023, Mong Cai City established the Tourism and Travel Association, under the Mong Cai City Business Association with 22 members. The Association proposed many directions of operation, in which on the occasion of April 30 and May 1, the Association assigned members to serve to ensure that tourists enjoy the best services from restaurants to hotels, means of transportation, entertainment, etc.
In 2023, in addition to promoting the brand of Mong Cai - a green, smart, friendly and safe tourist city, the locality will focus on effectively exploiting specific and unique product groups, creating impressive experiences for tourists, such as: Vietnamese - Chinese culinary fusion products; self-driving tourist cars; sports - golf tourism; border tourism associated with the tour program of Mong Cai City (Vietnam) - Dongxing City and Fangcheng Area (China); resort experience at high-class hotel systems; shopping at high-class brand fashion centers... During the recent April 30 - May 1 holiday, the city organized over 30 activities, events and festivals to attract tourists.
Along with the efforts to innovate tourism products, wards and communes have also proactively implemented measures to ensure security and order, put into operation many creative models, creating the best conditions for tourism development. Typically: Tran Phu Ward - with the advantage of concentrating the city's border gate system, banks, markets, and commercial centers, attracting a large number of tourists, the ward has installed a system of 100 cameras on 25/25 roads and streets. All security cameras are connected to the ward police; effectively serving the prevention, detection, and investigation of crimes and law violations on the streets. 20 toilets that the ward mobilized businesses and families to install free toilet signs; were cleaned, in order to create the best conditions for tourists when visiting the area, creating a good impression of a green, environmentally friendly and hospitable tourist city.
With diverse and effective methods, in the first 5 months of 2023, the number of tourists to Mong Cai is estimated to reach over 680,000, an increase of over 119% over the same period in 2022 (equal to 54.7% of the plan assigned by the province in 2023). Total state budget revenue from tourism services is estimated to reach over 42 billion VND, an increase of 181% over the same period in 2022.
Comrade Nguyen Thu Huong, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, said: The city continues to focus on attracting potential investors to invest in high-end complex tourism projects for beaches, routes, and tourist spots in Binh Ngoc and Vinh Thuc Island. At the same time, coordinate strong communication for Mong Cai tourist areas and spots to tourists and businesses, especially promoting the development of autumn-winter tourism and four-season tourism associated with spiritual tourism, border tourism and shopping tourism; hold talks and cooperate between the two localities in developing border tourism and re-issuing self-driving tourist car products... In addition to the orientation of developing sea tourism and Tra Co National Tourist Area, the city continues to promote the development of community tourism in the mountainous areas of Bac Son - Hai Son commune; linking the Po Hen National Historical Relic Site with Binh Lieu and Hai Ha routes, developing border tourism routes with Hoanh Mo and Bac Phong Sinh border gates.
