After just 12 hours of launch, Monster Hunter Wilds recorded a record 1.3 million concurrent players on Steam, becoming the first Capcom game to surpass the million-player milestone. This achievement not only beat popular games such as Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring, Marvel Rivals , but also surpassed the 'king' Dota 2 , reaching the top 10 games with the highest number of concurrent players of all time on Steam.

Even developer Pocketpair Palworld also had to let employees go because too many people called in sick on the game's launch day.
