According to statistics from the International Egg Commission, as of 2022, a Japanese person consumes an average of 339 eggs per year, second in the world after Mexicans.

The results of a survey conducted by food companies in Japan showed that more than 85% of Japanese people like to eat eggs.

The country also has the second highest per capita egg consumption in the world, after Mexico.

The latest egg survey was conducted online between August 25 and 26 among respondents aged 20 to 60 across Japan.

There were 2,060 respondents, grouped by gender and age.

When asked how much they liked eggs, a whopping 85.6% of respondents said they liked eating eggs, with 37% "somewhat" and 48.6% "very much."

Eggs' appeal is said to have dropped slightly from nearly 90% since 2017, when the survey began.
