Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Thanh (right of the first row of tables), representative of Tra Vinh Food Company, attended the training class.

In the context of international economic integration, domestic enterprises in general and Tra Vinh province in particular are facing fierce competition, especially when many foreign goods penetrate the Vietnamese market. Updating knowledge and new regulations related to the field of import and export aims to help cadres, civil servants, public employees and enterprises grasp unclear issues and limitations and shortcomings in the practical operations of the unit. From there, find solutions to effectively implement free trade agreements and new regulations related to the field of import and export, contributing to improving the provincial competitiveness index (PCI).

Comrade Kieu Thi Thanh Thuy, Deputy Head of the Finance and Planning Department of Duyen Hai Town, said that in recent times, in addition to supporting documents related to the import and export situation, the Department of Industry and Trade has organized training courses on the import and export situation to help officials and civil servants in charge of this field understand the Free Trade Agreement. In particular, after the training course on "propaganda and dissemination of new regulations related to the import and export sector in the province", no enterprises in the town have reported difficulties and problems in the import and export situation.

Faced with the situation that import and export will face many difficulties due to the US imposing tariffs, and to better support businesses in the coming time, from knowledge and experience, the Finance and Planning Department will continue to advise leaders on the import and export situation and international integration work to actively support businesses to facilitate production and business activities in the import and export sector.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Thanh, an employee in charge of import and export at Tra Vinh Food Company, said: participating in the training course not only updated knowledge and new business methods, but also actively supported the current work. Participating in the training course "propaganda and dissemination of new regulations related to the import and export sector in the province" aims to promptly help employees in charge of import and export to fully update new knowledge as well as information about this market.

The Company's field of operation is mainly the production of vermicelli, rice paper, pho... serving the domestic market and exporting to Thailand, Japan, Europe and recently the Company has successfully exported to the Australian market with an output of 100 - 200 tons of various products, of which exports to the Thai market account for 50% of the output. Therefore, the training course enhances the knowledge of enterprises to apply more effectively in the import and export process in a highly competitive market.

Comrade Pham Phuoc Trai, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said: Vietnam's international economic integration is increasingly deep, contributing to promoting trade activities between Vietnamese enterprises and foreign enterprises. Participating in new-generation free trade agreements is one of the important steps in Vietnam's international economic integration process. Currently, Vietnam has signed and participated in 17 free trade agreements (FTAs), including many new-generation FTAs, ... FTAs help enterprises enjoy tariff incentives, increase market access, and bring competitive advantages to exported goods.

The implementation and commitments in the new generation of free trade agreements are both an opportunity for Vietnam to perfect its institutions, policies and mechanisms domestically, and to improve the domestic business environment, creating conditions for enterprises to boost exports and create more jobs. At the same time, it poses many challenges in the process of building and perfecting institutions, laws, and investing resources to effectively implement regulations. Therefore, it requires enterprises to be dynamic and have a solid understanding of the law in order to gain an advantage in the competition of the market, achieving high business efficiency, not only in the domestic market, but also to stand firm in the world market.

Accordingly, enterprises wishing to successfully export to markets with Free Trade Agreements must meet the criteria on the origin of goods, ensure food safety and hygiene requirements, technical standards of each market... In particular, enterprises need to familiarize themselves with the trade defense measures that importing countries can apply to protect domestic production. Nowadays, in the context of our country's increasingly deep international economic integration, enterprises are facing fierce competition, especially the Vietnamese economy with a very large openness of 200% of GDP... after Singapore. With the US imposing a 46% tariff, some enterprises will face difficulties affecting export turnover to the US market. However, Vietnam continues to negotiate and promote a balanced, stable and sustainable trade relationship with the US.

In 2024, Tra Vinh was awarded a certificate of merit by the Ministry of Industry and Trade as one of the eight provinces and cities with good results in evaluating the implementation of Free Trade Agreements (FTA Index). The PCI index in 2014 of Tra Vinh province was ranked 18th, in which the component index: business support policies managed by the Department of Industry and Trade increased from 46th in 2023 to 3rd in 2024, an increase of 43 ranks and 2.09 points. This is the effort of the entire staff, civil servants, public employees and representatives of enterprises in the province, contributing to Tra Vinh having many outstanding points compared to neighboring provinces.

The "dissemination of new regulations related to the import-export sector in the province" aims to support and accompany officials, civil servants, public employees and businesses to better understand the Free Trade Agreements and new regulations related to the import-export sector.
