Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton is wanted. |
With 36 Premier League appearances and FA Cup and Community Shield trophies under his belt, Wharton has attracted the attention of the big boys. Many fans even believe that the player is worth up to £100 million. According to the Mirror , Palace value Wharton at £70 million.
However, Palace's ability to sell Wharton will depend on whether the team can keep hold of other stars like Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze. If the aforementioned duo both leave in the summer of 2025, Palace will likely look to keep Wharton until next summer when the team no longer has time to find a replacement.
Over the past year, Manchester United scouts have been keeping a close eye on Wharton, with Arsenal and Tottenham also interested. At 21, the England midfielder has made his mark, scoring four goals in 44 appearances.
Wharton was one of the targets that manager Ruben Amorim considered to strengthen the MU midfield, along with Carlos Baleba of Brighton. However, Athletic said the "Red Devils" gave up on the Baleba deal because the fee could be up to £120 million. Switching to Wharton is a more economical solution for MU.
In addition to Wharton, MU is also interested in captain midfielder Morten Hjulmand, Amorim's former student at Sporting. The fee for this deal is around 50 million pounds.
