Amorim has spoken out to remind the MU leadership about an important issue: the depth of experience in the squad. |
There have been many flaws in the way the club is run under Ineos, particularly poor communication with fans. However, merchandising has improved significantly.
Director of Sport Jason Wilcox said the recruitment process is now more organised, with a clear plan of targets, positions to fill and close coordination between coach Amorim, the data department and the scouting team.
However, in a recent press conference, Amorim pointed out another problem: the squad easily lost steam in the second half because of the absence of two key faces. He directly named Casemiro and Harry Maguire, two experienced players who, according to him, are creating a big gap every time they are absent.
“We had a hard time in the last two defeats when Casemiro had a slight injury, Maguire too. They are important not only because of their playing style but also because of their experience and ability to compete for the ball in the air,” Amorim shared.
Both Casemiro and Maguire are out of contract at the end of this season. Neither is certain of staying. Casemiro wants to continue playing, but United must renegotiate his salary. Maguire has a higher chance of staying, but his future is still undecided.
If the duo leave Old Trafford in 2026, United will face a difficult task: finding a replacement with enough quality and Premier League experience. Amorim understands they are not a long-term solution, but he also reminds the board that the team is clearly weaker without them on the pitch.
Amorim's message is clear: MU must prepare now if they don't want to run out of steam in the 2026/27 season.
