Heavy rain disrupts railway route through Ha Tinh

Specifically, at around 2:00 a.m. on October 30, at Km 354+900 - Km 355+400, the Yen Due - Hoa Duyet section (section through Lien Chau village, Duc Lien commune) suffered a landslide.

In reality, local authorities discovered 4 landslides, with rocks and soil swept away from the railway. More seriously, there was a landslide that caused the roof of the railway to open, with concrete protruding out. In some other locations, rocks and soil, and trees from the mountains also collapsed and flowed down, burying the railway.

Additional information from Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR), at 3:38 a.m. the same day, the North-South railway section through Ha Tinh (Yen Due - Hoa Duyet section) had a landslide due to heavy rain.

At around 6:30 a.m., heavy rain continued to fall in Ha Tinh , and the railway section passing through this area continued to have more landslides and was at risk of further landslides. Due to the landslides, the railway was forced to ban trains from running through the area.

Until morning, passenger train SE1 from Hanoi to the South to Yen Trung station was forced to stop waiting for the road, similarly train SE20 from Ho Chi Minh City to the North had to stop waiting at Hoa Duyet station.

While waiting for the landslide to be repaired, the railway has transferred passengers on trains SE1 and SE20 by road through the landslide area to board the train to continue the journey.

Currently, local authorities are mobilizing to coordinate with the railway industry to fix the problem. VNR also expects that on the afternoon of October 30, passengers on trains SE7 and SE8 will also have to stop at the above two stations and transfer by road through the landslide. The unit is focusing on human and material resources to fix the above landslide locations and soon resume train operations, but there is currently no estimated time for completion of the repair to operate the train./.
