Heavy rain and rising water levels have caused some rice and crop areas of Luc Da commune to be flooded. Currently, the authorities are counting and surveying the extent of the impact.

* Not only Con Cuong district, in the border district of Ky Son, heavy rain also occurred for more than 2 hours on the night of May 23. Local people said that heavy rain combined with water from upstream caused the water in streams and creeks to rise quite quickly.

In Muong Xen town, residents said that at around 9pm on May 23, water flooded Huoi Giang stream, the section across the spillway bridge near the district’s Political Center. Some sections of National Highway 7 through the town were also flooded, flowing across the road. By this morning (May 24), the water had receded.

* Also last night, heavy rain fell in many communes in Quy Chau district such as Chau Nga and Chau Phong. The rain lasted about 2 hours. Locals in Chau Nga commune said that despite the heavy rain, the water did not flood, but the amount of water flowing from upstream was quite large, making the rivers and streams muddy and higher than usual.

In Chau Phong commune (Quy Chau), people said that on the night of May 23, there was heavy rain that lasted all night. By this morning, the rain had lessened.

In the face of heavy rain in some districts in the West, during the night, the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Rescue also issued a telegram to localities, departments, branches and relevant units to focus on closely monitoring the natural disaster situation to promptly take response measures.

Also on the night of May 23, heavy rains and upstream water caused the water levels in hydroelectric dams to rise. Ban Ang Hydroelectric Plant announced that night that it would release floodwaters.
