As one of the leading universities in engineering, the University of Transport and Communications (UTC) has long been known for its logical, practical and determined students. They are not only learning how to build infrastructure, but also how to build a solid foundation for life.
And right at the school of those "future engineers", Money Day 2025 - "Buy a house or Rent a house?" organized by The Moneyverse in collaboration with the Department of Political and Student Affairs, the School Youth Union, the School Student Association and the UTC Media Communications Team , brought a new perspective on the concept of "settling down" in the digital generation - where the dream of owning a house is not only measured by area, but also by financial freedom and the ability to make wise decisions.

Have you ever heard the phrase 'Settling down and having a career'? Buying a house brings a sense of security, but it also comes with long-term financial pressure, even forcing many young people to sacrifice many opportunities and joys. Renting, on the other hand, brings flexibility, freedom and initiative - but sometimes makes us feel like we are not really "stable".
The Financial Doctor Talkshow (MoneyTalk) opened up an in-depth discussion between students and 3 speakers: Journalist Duong Ngoc Trinh - VTV Times - VTVTimes - VTVVN, Mr. Nguyen Nhat Anh - Director of Cua Nam Transaction Office, BIDV Bank and Mr. Vu Hoai Vu, currently the Chairman of 9 student kindergartens about this difficult problem. Not only discussing buying or renting, the experts also helped students look back at their spending habits, saving and making decisions. Because in every financial choice, the most important thing is not the number - but the level of understanding yourself and the ability to control emotions in front of money. Many perspectives were given: young people today need to learn to distinguish between "owning" and "controlling" - because sometimes, having a house is not enough to settle down, but knowing how to make your cash flow generate sustainable profits.

Not only stopping at sharing theory, UTC students also surprised the audience by bringing the comedy "Why buy a house when you sleep at construction sites all the time?" - a lively and witty perspective.
The story is about a young engineer who inherited 5 billion VND, wondering whether to buy a house to "settle down soon" or continue renting to invest in himself. Smart juggling moves, "cool" lines like: "Stability is what people have after paying off debt, not before borrowing!" made the hall laugh, but also made many students nod in agreement.
Through the comedy, the students cleverly conveyed a profound message: In finance, there is no right or wrong – just understand yourself and choose what best suits your abilities.

Along with the stage and discussion, the financial quiz attracted nearly 200 students to participate, creating a lively atmosphere where small questions lead to big lessons on spending management, saving and smart investment.
At the end of the program, BIDV Bank – a strategic partner of The Moneyverse awarded a scholarship worth 200 million VND to the University of Transport. This is a recognition of the efforts of the students and the school for their achievement in the top 10 of the Moneyverse Universe 2025 tournament; as well as the spirit of learning, innovation and courage on the journey to liberate financial thinking.

Money Day 2025 at the University of Transport ended with long applause and the message: "In the modern financial world , 'settling down' no longer means sustainability. Understanding yourself, knowing when to buy and when to rent is the real foundation."
