1. The salary of a professional soldier corresponds to his military rank.

Specifically, Article 4 of Circular 170/2016/TT-BQP stipulates the professional military ranks corresponding to the salary levels as follows:

- The military rank of Second Lieutenant of professional soldiers corresponds to a salary with a coefficient below 3.95.

- The military rank of Lieutenant of professional soldiers corresponds to a salary coefficient from 3.95 to under 4.45.

- The military rank of Senior Lieutenant of professional military personnel corresponds to a salary coefficient from 4.45 to under 4.90.

- The military rank of Captain of professional soldiers corresponds to a salary coefficient from 4.90 to under 5.30.

- The military rank of Major in professional military corresponds to a salary coefficient from 5.30 to under 6.10.

- The military rank of Lieutenant Colonel in professional military corresponds to a salary coefficient from 6.10 to under 6.80.

- The military rank of Lieutenant Colonel in professional military corresponds to a salary coefficient of 6.80 or higher.

According to Point a, Clause 2, Article 3 of Circular 41/2023/TT-BQP, the calculation of salary for professional soldiers is as follows:

- The rank of professional soldier Second Lieutenant corresponds to a salary of less than 7,110,000 VND/month.

- The military rank of professional soldier Lieutenant corresponds to a salary from 7,110,000 VND/month to under 8,010,000 VND/month.

- The military rank of Senior Lieutenant in professional military corresponds to a salary from VND 8,010,000/month to under VND 8,820,000/month.

- The military rank of Captain in professional military corresponds to a salary from VND 8,820,000/month to under VND 9,540,000/month.

- The military rank of Major in professional military corresponds to a salary from 9,540,000 VND/month to under 10,980,000 VND/month.

- The military rank of Lieutenant Colonel in professional military corresponds to a salary from 10,980,000 VND/month to under 12,240,000 VND/month.

- The military rank of Lieutenant Colonel in professional military corresponds to a salary of 12,240,000 VND/month or more.

2. Regulations on salary classification and military rank conferment for professional soldiers

The subjects specified in Clause 1 and Clause 2, Article 14 of the Law on Professional Soldiers, workers and defense officials who meet the conditions and standards are selected and recruited as professional soldiers, and have their salaries arranged and military ranks conferred as follows:

- People's Army officers; defense workers and civil servants selected as professional soldiers shall be classified, grouped, paid, and awarded professional military ranks corresponding to the salary levels prescribed in Section 1 based on their position, title, technical and professional training level; and current salary level.

In case the position title does not match the technical or professional field of training, the professional soldier shall be classified, grouped, paid, and awarded military ranks according to the technical or professional field of training and the position title currently held.

- Non-commissioned officers and soldiers selected as professional soldiers are classified, grouped, paid, and awarded professional military ranks corresponding to the salary levels prescribed in Section 1 based on their position, title, and technical and professional training level.

- Cadres, civil servants and public employees recruited as professional soldiers shall be classified, grouped, paid and awarded professional military ranks corresponding to the salary levels prescribed in Section 1 based on the recruited position and title; technical and professional training level; current salary according to rank, job title and compulsory social insurance payment period (if any ).

In case of non-cadres, civil servants or public employees, the basis for recruitment position and title; technical and professional training level is to classify, group, assign salary and confer military rank on professional soldiers corresponding to the salary level specified in section 1 .
