Nam Dinh: Focus on improving the quality of admissions at the beginning of the school year 2025-2026

To successfully complete the enrollment work for the 2025-2026 school year, Nam Dinh province has directed the education sector and educational institutions to develop appropriate enrollment plans, ensuring publicity, transparency, accuracy, objectivity, and convenience for students and their parents.

Deputy Director of the Departmentof Education and Training of Nam Dinh province, Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet, said: Implementing the enrollment plan for the 2025-2026 school year of the People's Committee of Nam Dinh province and the People's Committees of districts and cities in the province, all levels of education in the province (preschool, primary, secondary, high school) have actively prepared for the enrollment work at the beginning of the school year.

In preschools, preschools mobilize 100% of 5-year-old children (under universal education) in the area to go to school; based on local conditions, preschools mobilize children under 5 years old (with attention paid to 3 and 4-year-old children) to go to school and classes in public and private schools.

Primary schools mobilize 100% of 6-year-old children (under universal education), pay attention to mobilizing disabled children with the ability to integrate into the community in communes, wards and towns assigned to universalize education into grade 1; ensure that primary education is made compulsory.

In the secondary school sector, schools mobilize 100% of students who have completed primary school, are within the prescribed age, have valid records in the commune, ward, or town assigned the task of universalizing education to grade 6; create conditions for students with difficult circumstances to go to school, not allowing students to drop out of school due to family economic difficulties; focus on mobilizing disabled children with the ability to integrate into school.

According to the enrollment plan of the Provincial People's Committee, in the 2025-2026 school year, the whole province will enroll 21,044 students in grade 10 of public and non-public high schools, including 18,074 students in grade 10 of public schools (of which 560 students will enroll in Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted); 2,970 students in grade 10 of non-public schools.

Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Nam Dinh province, Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet, added: This year, according to the direction of the People's Committee of Nam Dinh province, the entrance exam for grade 10 high school (both specialized and non-specialized) will be organized in one exam; the exam will take place in 3 days; the whole province has established 47 examination councils; candidates taking the entrance exam for grade 10 high school must complete three exams including: Math, Literature and Foreign Language.

Candidates applying to Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted will take an additional specialized subject exam; the exam content ensures the selection of students with aptitude for the registered specialized subject.

By the end of the registration period as prescribed, the whole province had 23,196 students registered for the 10th grade entrance exam; of which 1,517 students registered for the exam at Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted.

In order to ensure the quality of the 10th grade entrance exam, the Department of Education and Training of Nam Dinh province has guided educational institutions to complete the educational program and organize the 10th grade entrance exam review for the 2025-2026 school year; develop and adjust the 10th grade entrance exam review plan in accordance with the actual conditions of the unit and regulations on extra teaching and learning; consolidate students' understanding of the requirements of the 2018 General Education Program, focusing mainly on the 9th grade program.

Along with that, it is necessary to pay attention to guiding students in learning methods and self-study; strengthen testing and evaluating students' review results; encourage the exploitation and use of software and review websites to provide review materials, online testing and evaluation, and manage students' review; direct professional groups and teams to compile and exploit sources of documents to support review; update reference exam questions and survey questions according to the 2018 General Education Program and analyze to guide review.

Sharing about the 10th grade enrollment of Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, Principal Pham Thanh Ngoc said: In the 2025-2026 school year, Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted will enroll 560 students in 10th grade, divided into 16 classes.

Notably, in the 10th grade entrance exam to Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted in the 2025-2026 school year, students who register for a specialized class will take the exam in the subject of that specialized class (previous years, the exam used specialized Math to enroll in some classes such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and IT). This is a reasonable adjustment, contributing to improving the quality of classifying students according to their abilities.
