Nam Nhun is ready for the forest planting season

Nam Nhun is a district with steep mountainous terrain and difficult transportation. People are currently tending to reduce the need for forest planting and prioritize planting short-term agricultural crops. The forest planting season is short, only focusing on the 3 rainy months from June to August; in addition, the rainy season is heavy, causing difficulties in transporting and gathering seeds, and the high heat affects the quality of crops.
Mr. Nguyen Van Trieu - Deputy Head of Nam Nhun District Forest Protection Management Board said: In 2024, the district was assigned to plant 325 hectares of forest and has completed 100% of the plan, increasing the forest cover rate to 58.14%, the total forest area in the area reached 78,707.33 hectares. In 2025, the district was assigned the target of planting 564 hectares of new forest. Of which: 64 hectares of protective forest, 300 hectares of cinnamon trees, 200 hectares of large timber production forest; concentrated in the communes: Nam Cha 275 hectares, Muong Mo commune 175 hectares and Pu Dao commune 69 hectares.

To complete the assigned targets, the district proactively developed plans, assigned tasks to specialized agencies and afforestation targets to communes and towns. Organized propaganda to the people and sent staff directly to the area to conduct measurements and designs to carry out afforestation. Right from the time the targets were assigned, on the basis of reviewing the land area and land fund based on the land fund development planning map in the area, the District Protection Forest Management Board advised the District People's Committee to develop plans, design planting areas and timely afforestation plans; allocated to 8/11 communes and towns with land funds to ensure effective implementation. Disseminate and guide people to clear the ground and prepare land for afforestation.
This year, Nam Hang commune was assigned the target of planting 10 hectares of cinnamon trees. The commune has proactively sent cadastral officials to coordinate with the District Forest Protection Management Board to inspect and review the land area that can be converted. Organize propaganda to the people through village and commune meetings, working programs of specialized agencies with the village...; mobilize households to register to participate in forest planting, clearly understand the rights, obligations, responsibilities when participating in forest planting, the benefits and economic values ​​that forests bring.
Mr. Vu A Mua (Huoi Pet village, Nam Hang commune) shared: Thanks to the propaganda of the commune officials, my family has clearly recognized the benefits of afforestation. I and the villagers are actively preparing to clear the ground, prepare the land... and are now just waiting for seeds and favorable weather to proceed with afforestation.
With the joint efforts of authorities at all levels, professional agencies and people of Nam Nhun district, preparations for the 2025 forest planting season are being actively implemented step by step. Forest protection and development have contributed to promoting the sustainable development of the local forestry economy. According to the current progress, Nam Nhun district is expected to carry out the work of clearing vegetation, preparing land, digging holes and completing forest planting in August, determined to complete the set plan.
