* 5 people missing, 4 people injured due to landslide

Immediately after the landslide, comrade Le Van Luong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, along with provincial leaders, departments, branches, provincial and district armed forces were present promptly to inspect and direct the search for victims and overcome the consequences of the natural disaster. At the same time, he visited and encouraged families with deceased and injured people.
More than 200 officers and soldiers of the armed forces, militia and local authorities, along with excavators, continued to be mobilized to remove obstacles on the top of the slope where the landslide occurred. Currently, due to the complex terrain of the landslide area, the steep slope and the danger, the proposed plan is to remove obstacles above to ensure safety, then the rescue forces will search below.
Authorities are actively searching for the unfortunate victims of the landslide.
After many hours of searching, the bodies of 5 victims have been found.
The injured patient was treated at the Provincial General Hospital and his health has improved.
In addition, at the Provincial General Hospital, the health of the victims has stabilized. Two victims had to undergo surgery, their health has stabilized and they continue to be cared for and monitored by doctors and nurses. Currently, the authorities are continuing to search for the remaining victim.
The leaders of the Provincial People's Committee and functional forces urgently and promptly directed the search for victims at the scene.
After directly going to the scene, Chairman of Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee Le Van Luong directed relevant departments, branches and Phong Tho District People's Committee to strictly implement the Prime Minister's direction in Official Dispatch No. 66/CD-TTg dated May 16, 2025. He requested: The Provincial General Hospital to provide free medical examination and treatment for the injured and free transportation of the deceased to their hometowns for burial procedures; coordinate with the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and the Provincial Red Cross Society to encourage and immediately support families with missing and injured people. Phong Tho District People's Committee coordinates with relevant units to support families of victims with registered residence in the district.

The Department of Industry and Trade shall preside over and coordinate with the Department of Construction, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Provincial Police and relevant agencies to promptly investigate and clearly identify the cause of the incident to promptly draw lessons in ensuring construction safety, and strictly handle the responsibilities of organizations and individuals (if there are violations) in accordance with the provisions of law. The Department of Agriculture and Environment - the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue shall seriously organize a 24/7 on-duty team; proactively and promptly inform the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Nghe An province to coordinate in organizing visits, encouragement and immediate support to families with victims.
