On the morning of June 2, more than 15,000 candidates in Quang Ninh entered the final exam - Mathematics - in the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year, with a time limit of 120 minutes. This is the final exam for candidates applying for the non-specialized program.
At the exam site of Ha Long High School for the Gifted, many people expressed their emotions when witnessing male student Le Trung Dung (class 9A1, Troi Middle School, Ha Long City, Quang Ninh) carrying his classmate Bui Quoc Tuan Anh from the school gate into the exam room.
Talking to VietNamNet reporter, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy (48 years old, residing in Hoanh Bo ward, Ha Long city, Quang Ninh), mother of Bui Quoc Tuan Anh, said that her son is close friends with Le Trung Dung. The two have been friends since 6th grade. During the 4 years of studying in the same middle school class, the two have become closer and closer like brothers.
According to Ms. Thuy, Tuan Anh has had bone and joint disease since birth, making it very difficult for him to move around. For many years, when her family took their son to school, they saw Dung, and sometimes a few other friends, waiting to carry Tuan Anh to class.
Ms. Thuy revealed that because of a congenital illness, Tuan Anh was eligible for direct admission to Hoanh Bo High School, but he wanted to try his hand at the entrance exam to Ha Long Specialized High School, so he still took the exam.
“Dung never considered Tuan Anh a disabled person but always considered him a normal friend like other friends. They both studied, played and progressed together on the path to adulthood. Therefore, the two families are also close and often visit each other’s houses and travel together,” Ms. Thuy shared.
Tuan Anh shared that he feels very happy to have Dung, his classmates, schoolmates and family always by his side to encourage and support him.
Dung confided that for the past 4 years, Tuan Anh and he have been together. The extra days of the exam did not make him feel tired at all, but instead felt more meaningful.
"I just hope Tuan Anh and all other friends in difficult circumstances understand that in this life there is still a lot of love and sharing, there will be many friends who will always be there for each other no matter how difficult the circumstances are," Trung Dung said.
Ms. Hoang Tinh, homeroom teacher of class 9A1, Troi Secondary School (Ha Long City, Quang Ninh) said that Tuan Anh and Trung Dung are close friends because they have many common interests such as learning English and playing chess.
Both were admitted directly to grade 10 at Hoanh Bo High School. Dung was admitted directly thanks to his achievement of winning 2 medals (1 Silver Medal, 1 Bronze Medal) in chess at the National Phu Dong Sports Festival.
Last school year, both Tuan Anh and Trung Dung were honored by Ha Long City as Young Talents, typical youth following Uncle Ho's teachings. Trung Dung was honored at the provincial level for two consecutive years.
Ms. Tinh shared that as a homeroom teacher, she always encourages students not only to study hard but also to love, unite and support each other. Class 9A1 is a close-knit group, most of the students are well-behaved, sympathetic and sharing.
At school, whenever he needs to move between classrooms or participate in group activities, Tuan Anh is always carried by Trung Dung and some of his classmates. Although Tuan Anh is exempt from physical activities, whenever there is a physical education class or group activity at school, his classmates always bring Tuan Anh to participate so that he can experience and share in the joy.
Ms. Tinh believes that, besides the role of guidance from teachers, it is the maturity in awareness and the spirit of compassion of students that are important factors in creating a beautiful collective, spreading inspirational stories like those of Tuan Anh and Trung Dung.
"Tuan Anh himself is a strong-willed, hard-working and sociable student, always in the top group of students in the class, three out of four years of middle school he has achieved the title of excellent student. His spirit and efforts have inspired his friends, making him always loved by friends and teachers", said Ms. Hoang Tinh.
