In 2006, after graduating from Dalat University, Ms. Hoang Thi Dieu Loan worked at Tran Quoc Tuan High School ( Gia Lai province). The first time she set foot on Phu Thien land, Ms. Loan visited the children in Plei Tro and Plei Hek villages (Chu A Thai commune).
"That day, I couldn't hold back my tears when I saw many children who didn't have enough food or clothes. That concern was like a bond that kept me attached to this land to accompany the children on their way to school," Ms. Loan recalled.
So throughout her journey, together with colleagues and friends, Ms. Loan always took advantage of all resources, connected, and helped hundreds of students with more learning tools, scholarships, etc. In addition to class hours, she connected with homeroom teachers to verify and learn about the circumstances of disadvantaged students and called for help from philanthropists. Ms. Loan shared that what she feared most was that when facing difficulties in life, students would become discouraged and drop out of school.
"To me, the teaching profession not only plays an important role in equipping students with knowledge, nurturing their qualities and abilities, but also inspiring and nurturing their dreams so that they can confidently take firm steps in the future," Ms. Loan expressed.
With that in mind, Ms. Loan has connected and helped students in difficult circumstances with books, pens, bicycles, and repairing and building classrooms... From 2020 to now, she has mobilized more than 5 billion VND to carry out many projects such as: repairing and building classrooms; donating textbooks, learning tools... to students in disadvantaged schools in Phu Thien and Ia Pa districts...
In the 2023-2024 school year, Ms. Loan and other benefactors donated a library at Plei Mun Mak school (belonging to Phan Chu Trinh Primary School, Ia Ake commune, Phu Thien district) with nearly 500 comic books and 187 new textbooks.
Ms. Hoang Thi Dieu Loan gives textbooks to Rmah H'Giang, a student at Phan Chu Trinh Primary School (Ia Ake commune, Phu Thien district, Gia Lai).
As a student who received a meaningful gift from Ms. Loan, Rmah H'Giang (class 5C, Phan Chu Trinh Primary School) said: "My family is poor so my parents don't have money to buy books. Although the new school year has started for more than a month, I and some of my friends at school still don't have books to study. Ms. Loan's meaningful gift has given me more motivation to continue going to school."
Rmah H'Min (class 11A11, Tran Quoc Tuan High School) could not hide her emotion: "My family is poor and my house is far from school, so studying has many obstacles. After being asked and confided by Ms. Loan, I boldly shared my situation and future plans. At the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year, Ms. Loan mobilized to give me a bicycle, a handheld computer, books and some school supplies... so that I can continue to confidently go to school."
Talking about the contributions of teacher Loan, Mr. Nguyen Chi Trung, Principal of Tran Quoc Tuan High School, said: "As a Literature teacher, Ms. Loan has been very creative in coming up with easy-to-understand teaching methods, helping students grasp knowledge. Along with that, she also devoted a lot of effort to helping students from disadvantaged areas go to school, creating motivation for them to confidently continue writing their dreams."
With her continuous contributions to theeducation and training career, Ms. Loan has received many certificates of merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; 10 consecutive years of winning the title of Emulation Fighter at the grassroots level; 3 consecutive years of guiding students to participate in the provincial "Lighting up the dreams of Gia Lai youth" contest and achieving high results...
