On March 15, the Provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations in collaboration with the Provincial Tourism Association organized a consultation workshop on “Solutions to improve food safety and hygiene in restaurants and hotels serving tourism in Son La province”. Attending the workshop were leaders of a number of departments, branches and sectors; representatives of restaurants and hotels in the province.

In recent years, Son La tourism has developed strongly, attracting domestic and international tourists. Therefore, food safety has become urgent and needs to be strictly controlled to ensure the safety of life and health of tourists, contributing to maintaining and sustaining the growth of the tourism service industry.
Currently, there are about 2,500 food service establishments, restaurants, and hotels in the province. In general, the establishments have complied quite well with the provisions of the law on food hygiene and safety; the rate of establishments meeting food safety standards is 98.3%.

Delegates attending the workshop focused on discussing and assessing the current situation and proposing solutions on: Food safety management for tourism in the province; ensuring food safety of agricultural, forestry and aquatic products in production and processing, supplying to restaurants and hotels; connecting the consumption of agricultural, forestry and aquatic products and safe food to the system of restaurants and hotels serving tourism; handling acts of commercial fraud in the field of food safety and hygiene according to the law...

The workshop received opinions from delegates, as a basis for assessing the current status of food safety and hygiene in restaurants and hotels and proposing appropriate solutions to improve the quality of food safety and hygiene serving tourism in the province.
