Improving training quality and developing human resources for the Northern Central Highlands region

The Party Committee of the Danang University branch in Kon Tum has promoted its role as a political nucleus, comprehensively leading all aspects of work, from Party building, developing cadres and civil servants, improving training quality to promoting scientific research, international cooperation, and caring for the lives of workers and students. Despite facing many difficulties such as the Covid-19 pandemic, personnel fluctuations and pressure on university autonomy, the Party Committee has firmly overcome and completed the goals set out in the Resolution of the 3rd Congress, creating a solid foundation for a new development path.

Strength from unity and innovative thinking

One of the highlights in the past term of the University of Danang branch in Kon Tum is that the Party building work has been given comprehensive attention, especially improving political qualities, ethics, lifestyle, and arousing the spirit of dedication among cadres and Party members.

Comrade Nguyen To Nhu, Party Committee Secretary, Deputy Director in charge of the University of Danang Branch in Kon Tum said: “We clearly identify that if we want the branch to develop sustainably, the branch Party Committee must promote its comprehensive leadership role, gather the strength of solidarity and consensus among all cadres, civil servants, employees and students. This is the important foundation for the branch to overcome difficulties and complete the assigned political tasks.”

The Party Committee of the Danang University branch in Kon Tum currently has 51 party members operating in 3 party cells, which is the core of comprehensive leadership of all aspects of the branch's work. During the 2020-2025 term, Party building work has been focused on comprehensive leadership and achieved many positive results. The branch's Party Committee has organized the study and dissemination of resolutions and directives of the higher-level Party Committee in many flexible forms, suitable to the actual situation. Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style is integrated into party cell activities and thematic activities, thereby raising awareness, political mettle, revolutionary morality and sense of responsibility of cadres and party members.

The work of inspection, supervision, and prevention of corruption and negativity was focused on and went into depth. During the term, no Party member was disciplined, and no case of violating ethics and lifestyle was expelled from the Party. Attention was paid to the work of Party development, with special attention paid to students, contributing to building increasingly clean and strong grassroots Party organizations.

Identifying training as a key task, the Party Committee of the branch has resolutely directed the work of enrollment, opening new majors, and innovating training programs in the direction of application, linked to social needs. Up to now, the branch has trained 11 regular university majors, coordinated training of 3 majors in the form of 2+2 (first two years of study at the branch, the next two years of study at the joint training school) with member schools of the University of Danang and expanded postgraduate, short-term training programs, and distance learning cooperation.

In the context of increasingly extensive university autonomy, the branch has proactively developed an enrollment plan, strengthened communication, and closely coordinated with local high schools and businesses. Education quality assurance is focused on, 100% of training programs are reviewed and adjusted according to Circular 17/2021/TT-BGDDT. The internal quality assurance system is improved, effectively implementing training program quality assessment activities, especially in 3 majors: Business Administration, Primary Education and Information Technology.

Scientific research activities have developed strongly. During the term, the branch had more than 150 articles and papers published in prestigious domestic and foreign journals, including 21 articles in the ISI and Scopus systems. In particular, the branch has successfully organized many international conferences, typically the international conference series on trade and distribution with the participation of universities, businesses, and alumni at home and abroad.

The branch also actively implements start-up, innovation and international cooperation activities. Many programs, training courses on start-up skills, and forums connecting businesses and students are organized. The branch participates in the PHER project funded by USAID, signs a cooperation agreement with UNESA University (Indonesia), organizes free Japanese classes for students and lecturers, and gradually improves international integration capacity.

Comrade Phan Thi Thanh Truc, Party member of the Lecturer Party Cell, Deputy Head of the Training Department shared: "Thanks to the correct orientation of the Party Committee, the branch's lecturers are given maximum conditions to conduct scientific research, improve their qualifications, expand academic cooperation and contribute to improving the quality of training".

The branch party committee pays special attention to student affairs, considering it the center of all activities. Policies, scholarships, and academic advising are implemented fully and promptly. Volunteer, cultural, sports, and academic club activities are organized enthusiastically, creating an environment for training and comprehensive development for students. The "5 Good Students" movement is spreading more and more strongly with many outstanding faces being honored.

Comrade Duong Thi Quynh Thuong, a member of the Student Party Cell, said: "Thanks to the attention and close guidance of the Party Committee, students of the branch have the conditions to promote their pioneering and creative roles, participate in many practical activities, and have a good environment to study, practice and mature."

Focus on breakthroughs and sustainable development in the new term

Entering the 2025-2030 term, in the context of the education sector transforming strongly in the spirit of Resolution 29-NQ/TW, Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on science, technology and national digital transformation, the Party Committee of the University of Danang Branch in Kon Tum clearly defined the motto of action "Solidarity - Breakthrough - Development", setting out key goals and solutions to build the branch to develop more and more strongly.

The focus of the new term is to continue building a clean and strong Party organization in terms of politics, ideology and ethics; developing a team of highly qualified cadres and lecturers; strongly innovating administration, improving the quality of training, scientific research and international cooperation. The branch strives to recruit over 85% of its annual target, open 1-2 new training majors each year, have at least 2 lecturers studying for a doctorate each year, 2-4 scientific research topics at the grassroots level or higher/year, 1-2 seminars organized/year...

Strengthening cooperation between the branch and the Department of Education and Sports of Attapeu, Champasak, Salavan provinces (Laos).

In particular, the branch identifies digital transformation, financial autonomy and the development of applied training programs, linked to local and business needs as important breakthroughs. Improve the quality of the teaching staff with doctoral degrees to at least 15-20% by 2030. Promote international training programs, attract Lao and Cambodian students, and build the branch's brand in the Central Highlands and Mekong sub-region.

Entering the new term, the University of Danang Branch in Kon Tum with the high political determination of all cadres, party members, civil servants and students of the branch in successfully implementing strategic goals. We must renew our thinking, promote collective strength, create breakthroughs in all fields to build the branch into a leading application-oriented training institution in the Central Highlands region.
