Free congenital heart screening for hundreds of children

NDO - On May 17-18, the Cardiovascular Center, E Hospital, in collaboration with the Tam Long Viet Fund (Vietnam Television) organized a free congenital heart disease screening program "Heart for Children" at the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi.

This is the second time the program "Heart for Children" has come to Quang Binh , bringing hope of healing to hundreds of children in difficult circumstances.

Dr. Phan Thao Nguyen, Deputy Director of E Hospital, in charge of the Cardiovascular Center, E Hospital, said that E Hospital has been accompanying the program "Heart for Children" for the past 17 years to reach people and children across the country. Many cases of congenital heart disease, if detected early, will have a chance to be completely cured.

During the 2 days in Quang Binh, doctors from the Cardiovascular Center, E Hospital will examine children and provide timely advice for cases of congenital heart disease, thereby opening up opportunities for early treatment, contributing to improving the quality of life for children and their families.

Hundreds of children were screened on the morning of May 17.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Phuong, representative of the Golden Heart Fund, Vietnam Television, shared that this is a special occasion to provide opportunities for screening and early detection of congenital heart disease for children from 0 to 16 years old in Quang Binh. This also opens up opportunities for children with congenital heart disease, especially children in difficult circumstances.

The 17-year journey for children's hearts of the "Heart for Children" program has organized more than 110 programs with more than 120,000 children screened nationwide, supported intervention and surgery for more than 7,700 children, helping them have healthy hearts to continue their journey of life. In Quang Binh, the "Heart for Children" program returned for the second time with the hope of giving more opportunities for healthy living to children with congenital heart disease.

On Saturday morning (May 17), many families from Quang Binh and neighboring provinces came to the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi to be screened for congenital heart disease by doctors from the Cardiovascular Center, Hospital E.

With 4 screening tables and 2 echocardiography tables, the doctors and nurses of the Center have screened nearly 300 children. For those diagnosed with congenital heart disease who are in difficult circumstances, the program "Heart for Children" will support all treatment costs.
