Da Nang tourism is ready to develop after the merger of Quang Nam province.

NDO - On the afternoon of May 17, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang organized a workshop on “Da Nang Tourism in the New Era: Integration and Breakthrough”. This workshop also reviewed the activities of the Da Nang City Tourism Development Promotion Fund in recent times.

The latest report shows that tourism activities in Da Nang city are growing strongly, a bright spot in the city's socio -economic development.

In the first 4 months of 2025, the number of guests served by accommodation establishments reached more than 3.5 million, an increase of 18.6% over the same period in 2024. Of which, international guests reached more than 1.7 million, an increase of 43% over the same period in 2024, domestic guests reached nearly 1.8 million, an increase of 2.2% over the same period last year. Revenue from accommodation, food and beverage, and travel in the first 4 months of 2025 reached more than 11.4 trillion VND, an increase of 22.5% over the same period in 2024.

During the recent April 30 and May 1 holidays, Da Nang city welcomed about 610,000 visitors, an increase of more than 50% over the same period last year. Total revenue from tourism activities during the 5-day holiday in Da Nang is estimated at 2,426 billion VND, an increase of more than 50% over the same period in 2024.

These encouraging achievements are the result of the strong participation of the entire political system, the synchronous coordination of all levels, sectors and localities, along with the responsible companionship of the business community and the city's people.

Speaking at the workshop, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi acknowledged and highly appreciated the practical contributions of the Da Nang City Tourism Development Promotion Fund and the Da Nang City Tourism Association in connecting businesses, creating consensus, effectively supporting business activities and expanding international markets.

Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City Nguyen Thi Anh Thi also emphasized: In the coming time, the implementation of the policy of merging Quang Nam province and Da Nang city will not only expand the geographical space, making Da Nang city become the centrally-run city with the largest area in the country, but also open up a completely new development vision.

In that context, the tourism industry of Da Nang city needs to be well prepared and play a pioneering role in the process of restructuring the common development space to maximize the potential of culture, natural resources and enhance regional connectivity.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi suggested that the City Tourism Development Promotion Fund and the City Tourism Association continue to promote their leading role, mobilizing businesses to join hands with the city to develop Da Nang tourism in the new era, affirming the position of Da Nang city tourism on the world tourism map.

The Da Nang City Government is committed to working with the City Tourism Development Promotion Fund, the City Tourism Association and the business community to support businesses in communications, market promotion, opening new flight routes, as well as removing difficulties and obstacles in their business operations.

The presentations at the conference all pointed out the strengths of Da Nang’s tourism industry after the merger of Quang Nam province. According to experts and businesses, the space after the merger of the new Da Nang city will expand 10 times. This is one of 3 localities in the country with 2 airports and the only locality with 2 international airports.

The problem for Da Nang tourism industry is to “restructure” to effectively exploit tourism resources, build new destinations and increase the service supply chain. In addition, constantly improve the quality of tourism human resources and effectively apply digital transformation to operations and management to bring the highest economic efficiency.
