On May 27, the Ministryof Education and Training announced the official results of the Vietnamese national team participating in the 2025 Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) hosted by Uzbekistan.
The Vietnamese national team had 6 students participating in the award. As a result, 100% of the students won medals with 1 Gold Medal, 2 Silver Medals, and 3 Bronze Medals.
The Gold Medal belongs to Nguyen Bui Duc Dung, 11th grade student, High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences , University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
Silver Medal Award: Le Kien Thanh, 12th grade student, Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Binh Dinh province;
Dang Huy Hau, 10th grade student, Thang Long High School for the Gifted, Lam Dong province.
Bronze Medal Achievement: Ninh Quang Thang, 12th grade student, Ha Long High School for the Gifted, Quang Ninh province;
Nguyen Huy Phong, 11th grade student, Lao Cai High School for the Gifted, Lao Cai province;
Nguyen Xuan Chi Thanh, 11th grade student, High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
Notably, Nguyen Bui Duc Dung won the Gold Medal with 236/300 points, including two papers with the maximum score of 100 points. In paper 1, Dung was one of three candidates who achieved the maximum score. Dang Huy Hau, who won the Silver Medal, also came up with a unique solution and achieved the maximum score in paper 3.
With this result, the Vietnamese team ranked 5th, after China, Russia, Japan, and South Korea, continuing to affirm its leading position among countries in the Southeast Asian region.
According to the Ministry of Education and Training, this result shows that Vietnamese students have been equipped with adequate and updated knowledge. In addition, together with the results of many years in the International and Regional Olympiads in Informatics, it shows that Vietnamese students have talent and thinking in computer science that is among the top in the region.
The excellent achievements of the Vietnamese national team at APIO 2025 continue to affirm the quality of general education; at the same time, affirm the right direction in the work of discovering, selecting and nurturing excellent students of the Ministry of Education and Training.
The 19th Asia-Pacific Olympiad in Informatics was held from May 17 to 18, attracting the participation of 868 contestants from 42 delegations from countries and territories. This year's exam questions were assessed as creative, following the exam trend of the International Olympiad in Informatics, with each question having many flexible and creative approaches.
