On May 27, news from the Ministry of Education and Training said it had just received the results of the Vietnamese student team. compete in the Asia- Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) 2025 hosted by Uzbekistan.
Accordingly, all 6 students participating in the award ceremony won medals, including 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals.
The winner of the gold medal was Nguyen Bui Duc Dung, an 11th grader from the High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences (Vietnam National University, Hanoi). Notably, Dung won the gold medal with a high score of 236/300 points, including two exams with the maximum score of 100 points.
The two students who won silver medals were Le Kien Thanh, a 12th grader from Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Binh Dinh Province, and Dang Huy Hau, a 10th grader from Thang Long High School for the Gifted, Lam Dong Province. Of these, Hau had a unique solution and achieved the maximum score in exercise 3 with the main processing part using only 4 lines of code, surprising everyone.
The bronze medal winners were Ninh Quang Thang, a 12th grader from Ha Long High School for the Gifted, Quang Ninh province; Nguyen Huy Phong, an 11th grader from Lao Cai High School for the Gifted, Lao Cai province; and Nguyen Xuan Chi Thanh, an 11th grader from the High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences (Vietnam National University, Hanoi).
With this result, the Vietnam Informatics Olympic Team ranked 5th after China, Russia, Japan, and Korea and continued to affirm its leading position among countries in the Southeast Asian region.
The 19th Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad was held from May 17 to May 18, 2025, attracting the participation of 42 delegations from countries and territories, with 868 contestants participating in the competition.
This year's exam questions are considered creative, following the exam trends of the International Olympiad in Informatics, with each question having many flexible and creative approaches.
