Scientific seminar on sustainable socio-economic and environmental development of Dong Thap province in the period 2025 - 2030

DTO - On May 26, the Department of Science and Technology (KH&CN) of Dong Thap province coordinated with the Institute for Regional Development Research and Consulting - Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics to organize a scientific seminar with the theme "Sustainable socio-economic and environmental development of Dong Thap province in the period of 2025 - 2030: Current situation and forecast". The seminar is within the framework of the implementation of a provincial-level scientific project to comprehensively assess the current situation, identify potentials and propose solutions for sustainable development of Dong Thap province.

Attending the seminar were Mr. Nguyen Thai Binh - Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Dong Thap province; Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vinh - Deputy Director of the Institute for Regional Development Research and Consulting - Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, along with representatives of departments, branches and many experts and scientists .


Mr. Nguyen Thai Binh - Deputy Director of Department of Science and Technology spoke at the seminar.

Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Thai Binh - Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology said that this scientific topic was implemented in the form of selection, the Institute for Research and Consulting on Regional Development was selected to carry out the task. The contract to implement the topic was signed from December 2024 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. Mr. Nguyen Thai Binh emphasized that this is a scientific and technological task of practical significance, contributing to the work of planning the strategy for sustainable socio-economic and environmental development of the province in the new context.


Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vinh - Deputy Director of the Institute for Regional Development Research and Consulting, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics presented a paper at the seminar.

At the seminar, experts and scientists focused on discussing three main contents: analyzing and evaluating the current status of socio-economic and environmental development in Dong Thap province in the period of 2020 - 2025; analyzing and evaluating the current status and development trends of Dong Thap province in the period of 2016 - 2025; identifying potentials and challenges, and proposing breakthrough directions and target programs for socio-economic development for Dong Thap and Tien Giang provinces before and after the merger.

Mr. Nguyen Thai Binh said that the general objective of the scientific topic is to analyze, forecast and propose solutions to promote sustainable development for Dong Thap in the period of 2026 - 2030. On that basis, the advisory council identified 5 specific objectives, including: comprehensively assessing the development status of the province according to the sustainable development framework; analyzing the level of completion of the targets of the previous period; identifying potentials and bottlenecks; proposing development trends of key sectors; and proposing breakthrough and strategic solutions.

The seminar is an opportunity to listen to comments from experts, officials of departments, branches, and universities to complete the set of criteria for assessing socio-economic and environmental development in accordance with local characteristics. This is an important basis for Dong Thap province to continue pursuing the goal of building a practical and effective model of "ecological agriculture - modern countryside - civilized farmers"...
