According to the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, from the beginning of 2025 until now, Vietnam is still the second largest durian supplier to China, but there has been a serious decline of 71% in volume and 74% in turnover.

Vietnam's durian market share in China will decrease from 42% (in 2024) to 28%.

One of the reasons for the decline in durian exports is the increase in food safety inspections and the 100% inspection frequency, which affects the time, speed and customs clearance capacity of exported Vietnamese durian.

By the end of 2024, Vietnam's durian area will reach nearly 179,000 hectares, with this year's expected harvest output of over 1.5 million tons.

Currently, the Southeast is entering the harvest season, lasting until August. The Central Highlands is expected to harvest from July to October. The Southwest is in the final stage of the season.

Previously on May 21, the General Administration of Customs of China approved nearly 1,000 more durian growing areas and packaging facilities in Vietnam, this is an opportunity for Vietnamese durian to increase the volume and value of exports to China.
