After 5 years of implementing Conclusion No. 248-KL/TU dated November 26, 2021 of the 11th Provincial Party Committee on continuing to restructure Dong Thap province's industry by 2025, with a vision to 2030 (Conclusion No. 248-KL/TU), the province has basically completed the set goals and targets. In order for the province's industry to grow strongly and dramatically, promoting GRDP growth according to Conclusion No. 248-KL/TU, the province has synchronously deployed key tasks and solutions, focusing on exploiting advantages for industrial development such as: investing in industrial infrastructure, encouraging innovation and technology transfer, creating a favorable investment environment, building an industrial enterprise ecosystem, encouraging exports and international integration, and paying attention to training human resources for industrial development. Since then, the proportion of industry in GRDP has been increased (the proportion of industry is estimated at 16.29% in the province's GRDP, an increase of 0.99 percentage points compared to the period 2016 - 2020), 7/11 targets (accounting for 63%) achieved and exceeded the set plan.

The processing industry, especially the agricultural processing industry (rice, pangasius, vegetables and fruits) has basically developed in the direction of increasing technology content, going into depth, in line with the circular economy and digital economy. Many key industrial sectors have grown well, creating jobs for over 70,000 workers, consuming a large amount of agricultural raw materials of the province, and products meeting export requirements with the Dong Thap brand. Infrastructure of industrial parks and clusters (ICs) has received investment attention and has gradually been completed, the average occupancy rate of industrial parks (IPs) and ICs has exceeded the set target.

The province has developed and implemented the Project on industrial restructuring to 2025, with a vision to 2030, with a focus and key points, associated with the implementation of the Project on agricultural restructuring. On that basis, all levels and sectors have prioritized the use of integrated capital sources (capital from industrial promotion, science and technology, investment promotion, vocational training, environment, agricultural restructuring capital, etc.) to promote industrial restructuring, increase the proportion of industry, and the industrial production value in 2025 (at 2010 prices) is expected to reach VND 87,600 billion, an increase of VND 21,426 billion compared to 2020.

The economic advantages of the province's border gates have been paid attention to and promoted to contribute to socio-economic development and export of goods, and industrial development in border areas. The province currently has 710 industrial production enterprises (an increase of 270 enterprises compared to the end of 2020), of which the focus and main force is the processing and manufacturing industry, accounting for more than 91%. By 2025, it is estimated to reach a scale of 13,765 billion VND, growing 5.8%/year, of which leather footwear products are estimated to increase by over 27%/year; shrimp crackers, vermicelli, rice noodles, rice paper and similar products are estimated to increase by over 16%/year; filtered cigarettes are estimated to increase by over 11%/year; processed seafood is estimated to increase by over 10%/year; tablets of all kinds are estimated to increase by nearly 2%/year; ready-made clothes are estimated to increase by 0.8%/year; animal feed is estimated to increase by 0.2%. However, some industries are still facing many difficulties such as: sand mining output is estimated to decrease by 4%/year; rice processing is estimated to decrease by 4%/year; beer is estimated to decrease by 2%/year.

The province's investment promotion work has been promoted, investment policies have been effectively implemented, the image and investment environment continue to be maintained and developed, attracting many investors to explore investment cooperation opportunities.
