The conference was attended by more than 100 delegates, including leaders and experts from specialized departments, socio -political organizations of Bac Yen and Phu Yen districts; leaders and officials of land administration and environment of communes and towns in the two districts.
At the Conference, the reporter of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment deployed training on basic knowledge about climate change, policies, directives, resolutions of the Party, policies and laws of the State on climate change response. As a locality heavily affected by climate change, in recent years, Son La has developed Action Plans to respond to climate change. On that basis, departments, branches, and localities have developed specific implementation plans; at the same time, integrating climate change response implementation with the implementation of specialized tasks in each sector and field.
In addition, the Provincial People's Committee has directed relevant units to coordinate with non -governmental organizations and foreign organizations to call for financial support to develop and implement capacity building projects to prevent and reduce natural disaster risks, actively respond to climate change, strengthen resource management and environmental protection.
Thanks to that, the awareness of Party committees, authorities, organizations and the entire population about responding to climate change has had positive changes. Initially, attention has been paid to the impacts of climate change; awareness has been formed to protect, exploit and use resources economically and effectively; all classes of people have become more aware of using resources economically and protecting the environment.
The conference is a practical activity to implement the Project to improve capacity for state management officials on climate change in Son La province, an opportunity for People's Committees of districts, cities, agencies and units to exchange and share experiences on climate change adaptation, resource and environmental protection.
The delegates focused on listening and studying the contents of the Conference. Discussing and exchanging experiences, difficulties, obstacles, proposing some orientations and solutions to improve the capacity of state management on climate change, warning and response to climate change, and mitigating natural disasters in the province.
Mr. Cam Van Duong, Deputy Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Phu Yen district, said: Phu Yen is a locality that is heavily affected by climate change. Proactively adapting to climate change, in recent years, Phu Yen has focused on promoting propaganda, dissemination, and thoroughly understanding to all cadres and people the Party's guidelines, policies, and viewpoints, and the State's laws and policies on climate change response, strengthening resource management, and environmental protection.
Proactively review and support the relocation of residents from areas at high risk of flash floods, riverbank and stream landslides and other natural disaster risks. At the same time, propagate, mobilize, guide and call on investors to implement works, projects, production and business establishments to pay attention to regulations on climate change response, greenhouse gas emission reduction, environmentally friendly production and consumption, and energy recovery from waste.
Through the contents of today's training conference, together with local authorities, we continued to deploy practical solutions to contribute to raising awareness, consciousness, and the role and responsibility of officials, civil servants and people in proactively responding to climate change, especially the team of environmental cadastral officers at the commune level.
