Leveraging the advantages of the forest.
Leveraging its forest resources, Ba Chẽ has been actively promoting agricultural and forestry development in conjunction with the new rural development program, bringing practical benefits to its people. Priority is given to developing concentrated agricultural commodity production areas, enhancing the value of agricultural products through restructuring the agricultural sector, and introducing new production methods, plant varieties, and livestock breeds.

Many years ago, for the people of Ba Chẽ highlands, acacia trees were considered a "lifeline" in poverty alleviation. However, after a long period of cultivation, the economic efficiency of this tree species is no longer high, the soil is depleted, and the short cycle makes people's income unstable. Recognizing this reality, the Party Committee of Ba Chẽ commune has identified forestry as a strategic direction, with cinnamon trees chosen as the main crop to gradually replace the low-yielding acacia plantations.
Nam Kim village, considered a shining example in the cinnamon cultivation movement, has seen its residents proactively change their mindset and practices. Mr. Trieu Quy Trinh stated: "Ethnic minority people have access to loans, technical assistance, and guidance on developing their key agricultural products. Previously, people mainly planted acacia trees, but the results were not very good. One hectare of acacia trees yielded a maximum of about 70 million VND, while cinnamon can yield over 200 million VND, two to three times more. Cinnamon trees require less labor and can be fully utilized from leaves, branches, bark, and wood, resulting in significantly higher efficiency." Currently, the total cinnamon cultivation area in Nam Kim village has reached nearly 200 hectares. Cinnamon has become a new source of hope and a clear economic benefit for the local people.
In the commune, concentrated production areas for some key local crops such as cinnamon, golden flower tea, ginseng, and purple rehmannia have been initially established. The total area of planted forests in the commune reaches 8,865.8 hectares, including over 2,000 hectares of cinnamon trees; 448.7 hectares of large timber forests; and 90 hectares of medicinal plants.
Building upon the foundation of established concentrated production areas, Ba Chẽ continues to focus on developing the processing industry and expanding consumer markets, gradually completing the value chain of the locality's key agricultural and forestry products. A cinnamon essential oil processing plant is being built right in the commune, creating job opportunities and stable outlets for the people. In addition, the Nam Sơn Industrial Cluster is undergoing phase 2 investment, completing infrastructure to attract more forestry processing businesses, increasing the value of cinnamon products. To date, the entire commune has 57 operating businesses and business branches, a 2.1-fold increase compared to 2024. The growth rate of production value across economic sectors reached 25.5%, the highest ever, 5.4% higher than in 2024.
Breakthrough in transportation infrastructure
Recognizing inter-regional transportation development as a key task in the new development phase, Ba Chẽ commune continues to focus on investing in infrastructure, expanding connecting transportation routes, contributing to promoting trade, improving people's lives, and creating momentum for sustainable development.

In recent years, Ba Chẽ commune has received significant attention from the province, with resources allocated and priority given to investing in the construction of a comprehensive infrastructure, especially essential projects serving the lives of the people. Many projects have been completed and put into use, yielding positive results. Notable examples include: the main road from Tan Tien village to Khe Vang; the inter-village road from Tan Tien to Lang Cong; the upgrading and renovation of the road from Ba Chẽ town to Ba Chẽ bridge; the flood bypass road around Khe Na and Khe Tam lake; the underground tunnels at Bang Quang and Nam Ha; and the Lang Cang bridge… Thanks to the comprehensive investment in transportation infrastructure, the appearance of Ba Chẽ commune is changing day by day, and the lives of the people are improving. Ms. Tran Thi Theo (Khe Long Trong village) said: “Thanks to the State's investment in many transportation projects, the roads are now wide and easy to travel on, and our lives have changed dramatically. People can work with peace of mind, children can study conveniently, and the rural landscape is becoming more spacious, clean, and beautiful.”
Specifically, in August 2025, the Project Management Board for Investment and Construction in Region II, in coordination with the People's Committees of Ba Che and Ky Thuong communes, held a groundbreaking ceremony for the renovation and upgrading of Provincial Road 330 (section from Ba Che commune to Provincial Road 342). The project has a length of nearly 20.97 km, starting at Km10+700 (in Ba Che commune) and ending at Km34+200, connecting to Provincial Road 342 (in Ky Thuong commune), with a total investment of 987 billion VND from the provincial budget. The project is designed to meet the standards of a Class III mountain road, with a roadbed width of 9m, an asphalt concrete surface, and landscaped sidewalks in densely populated areas.
The project is scheduled for completion between 2025 and 2027. Upon completion, the road will contribute to the development of a synchronized and modern transportation infrastructure system in accordance with the plan, shorten travel distances between highland communes and the provincial center, facilitate trade and connectivity with Bac Ninh and Lang Son provinces via the currently under-investment Route 342 and other connecting projects.
The results achieved in implementing Resolution No. 06-NQ/TU of the Provincial Party Committee are of great significance, demonstrating the efforts of the entire political system and the people; contributing to creating a solid foundation for socio-economic development and a new look for Ba Chẽ commune.
