Neymar causes controversy again

Neymar has taken social media by storm again with his latest post about Santos' lineup.

On his personal page on April 23, Neymar posted a modified Santos lineup, but immediately deleted it. However, many fans have noticed that Neymar's lineup has 3 changes compared to the lineup that interim coach Cesar Sampaio used in the 1-2 loss to Sao Paulo on April 21.

Specifically, Neymar chose Luizao at right-back instead of Leo Godoy, Souza at left-back instead of Escobar, and removed Barreal to put Diego Pituca in midfield. Notably, Souza, who is currently out due to injury, was also named by Neymar in the squad. This shows that the Brazilian striker seems to be dissatisfied with the personnel arrangement of coach Sampaio.

Neymar’s post has caused controversy on social media. Many people believe that Neymar has interfered too deeply in professional matters. Some other fans are concerned that the striker has had conflicts and disagreements with head coach Sampaio.

Santos are currently struggling, sitting 18th in the Brazilian league, with just one win, one draw and three losses in their first five games of the season. The crisis has further fuelled the debate over Neymar’s preferred line-up.

Coach Sampaio and Santos have not commented on the incident. The team is focusing on the next match against Bragantino on April 28.

With Neymar, Santos confirmed that the former PSG star needs 4 to 6 weeks of recovery after injuring his left thigh in the 2-0 win over Atletico Mineiro.
