Russia grants 1000 scholarships to Vietnamese citizens

According to the Ministry of Education and Training , the Russian Government grants 1,000 scholarships to Vietnamese citizens to study at the undergraduate, master's, doctoral, specialized internship and Russian language levels.

The training programs are in many fields such as mathematics, computer science , physics, astronomy, nanoelectronics, electrical energy and electrical engineering, biotechnology, veterinary medicine and animal husbandry, psychology, social sciences. Training time ranges from 3 months to 5 years depending on the training program.

The Russian scholarship includes free tuition for the duration of the study, monthly scholarship and accommodation in the dormitory at the cost prescribed by the country. The Vietnamese scholarship includes free airfare, travel expenses, passport and visa fees, health insurance and monthly living allowance according to the Vietnamese regulations for students studying under the Agreement scholarship in Russia.

Scholarship candidates include grade 12 students, first-year students, people with undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees who meet the requirements of the Russian scholarship. In addition, the scholarship prioritizes those who have studied in Russia, studied Russian in Vietnam or have a Russian language certificate.

University degree:

Students in grade 12 must meet one of the following conditions: participate in the national team to compete in international and regional Olympic competitions and win gold, silver and bronze medals; participate in the national excellent student selection exam, national science and technology competition and win first, second and third prizes; win prizes at the Russian Language Olympic organized by the Russian Center for Science and Culture; students must have a first semester study result of 7 points or higher in the 2023-2024 school year, and have university admission results in 2024 when completing school procedures.

First-year students of Vietnamese universities, academies, and colleges (full-time) must meet one of the following conditions: participating in the national team participating in international and regional Olympic competitions and winning gold, silver, and bronze medals; participating in national excellent student selection exams, national science and technology competitions and winning first, second, and third prizes; winning prizes at the Russian Olympic competition organized by the Russian Center for Science and Culture; students in the armed forces; students who are children of martyrs; students nominated by the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities and committed to returning to work after graduation, with results of 3 years of high school with 7 points or higher and semester I of the first year of university with 7 points or higher.

Master's degree:

Officials, civil servants, public employees, and permanent lecturers (with contracts and a minimum working period of 12 months or more as of June 30, 2024, with mandatory social insurance) working at state agencies and educational institutions, with university degrees, not over 40 years old.

University graduates (bachelor's degree) with excellent academic results (red diploma) in Russia or with good results in Vietnam and other countries between January 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024, not older than 35 years old. Priority is given to students who have achieved the title of "5 Good Students" introduced by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union/Vietnam Student Association);

University graduates with good academic results or above, not over 35 years old, nominated by the People's Committee of the province or centrally-run city and committed to returning to work after graduation.

Doctoral degree: Officials, civil servants, public employees, and permanent lecturers (with contracts and a minimum working period of 12 months or more as of June 30, 2024, with mandatory social insurance), currently working at state agencies, educational institutions, with a master's degree or a university degree in engineering/specialist in Russia (according to a training program of 5 years or more), not over 40 years old.

Master's degree graduates in Russia with excellent academic results (red diploma) or master's degree graduates in Vietnam and other countries with academic results of 8 points or higher in the period from January 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024, not older than 35 years old.

People with a master's degree, with a GPA of 7.0 or higher, not over 35 years old, nominated by the People's Committee of the province or centrally-run city and committed to returning to work after graduation.

Application process for pre-selection

Candidates must submit complete online applications on two electronic portals of Russia and Vietnam and paper applications as prescribed.

Submit paper documents in Russian to the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Hanoi, before March 20 (based on the postmark) and documents in Vietnamese to the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Education and Training, before June 30 (based on the postmark of the documents received at the Department of International Cooperation).

According to the Department of International Cooperation, in 2023, about 6,000 Vietnamese people will study at 180 universities in Russia. Of these, more than 85% will study basic sciences and high technology.
