According to Defense News, Russian military transport aircraft may have transferred a large quantity of Geran-2 air defense missiles and kamikaze unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to Venezuela.
Neither Moscow nor Caracas have commented on such reports.

Information about flights carrying weapons from Russia to Venezuela appeared in the Western press.
However, information is now emerging regarding goods that may have been sent to Venezuela, including air defense missiles for the Pantsir-S1 and Buk-M2E complexes.
Russian media, citing close sources, stressed that the launchers could have been delivered to Caracas along with the drones, transported by Il-76 transport planes.
Western media have reported on Russian military transport flights to Venezuela in recent days.
Foreign media believe Russia is shipping weapons and ammunition to Caracas after Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro formally requested military assistance from Moscow under a strategic partnership agreement.
Experts explain that Russia may have transferred anti-aircraft missiles to Caracas designed to specifically destroy large fixed-wing UAVs (such as the US MQ-9 Reaper and RQ-4 Global Hawk), as well as helicopters flying at low altitudes.

The move took place in the context of the US mobilizing many vehicles and weapons close to Venezuela.
It is no secret that one scenario for the start of a US military operation in Venezuela includes a missile strike from attack UAVs like the MQ-9 Reaper on key targets, followed by the landing of US Navy special forces by helicopter.
As for the Geran-2 drones, the conflict in Ukraine has clearly demonstrated that they are a near-universal weapon capable of attacking any target, including US Navy warships off the coast of Venezuela.
Thus, the weapons Moscow transferred to Caracas are extremely useful for the Venezuelan Army, helping them to deal with long-range attack UAVs and destroy helicopters carrying US special forces landing troops on the country's territory.
It should be added that the administration of US President Donald Trump has not yet decided to launch a military campaign against Venezuela, however, no one can confirm that it can be completely canceled or can take place in the near future.
