The Aurus Senat limousine that transports Russian President Putin has attracted a lot of attention during each of his trips. It is considered one of the safest escort vehicles today. This car is currently appearing with Mr. Putin in Hanoi.
Aurus Motors is a luxury car brand owned by the Russian Central Research Institute of Automobiles and Automotive Engines (NAMI). This car company was born from the directive of the Russian President starting in 2012. At that time, Mr. Putin wanted the cars serving the head of state to be made by Russians. The name of the car company Aurus is a combination of two different words, in which, "Au" is an abbreviation of "Aurum" which means "gold" in Latin. The remaining "Rus" is an abbreviation of "Russian" which means Russia.
The Aurus Senat is exceptionally large. The limousine is 6,630 mm long, with a wheelbase of 4,300 mm, much longer than famous long supercars such as the Rolls-Royce Phantom (5,982 mm long), Bentley Mulsanne (5,575 mm long) and even 1 meter longer than the US President's car The Beast. However, the Aurus Senat is lighter, weighing only 6.5 tons.
In terms of design, this limousine is equipped with a large radiator grille, extending from the hood to the front bumper and accompanied by vertical chrome bars like a Rolls-Royce. On the rectangular radiator grille is a large Aurus logo.
The tires are anti-skid and runflat to withstand attacks. President Putin's car can operate normally even when moving in temperatures of -50 degrees Celsius. This supercar is designed so that the people inside can survive in many situations such as being able to close the doors tightly in case of a chemical attack or being completely submerged in water and operating like a submarine.
The car is equipped with a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine combined with an electric motor to create a maximum capacity of 590 horsepower. Power is transmitted to the wheels via a 9-speed KATE R932 automatic transmission developed by NAMI in cooperation with Porsche. Thanks to that, the Aurus Senat can accelerate to 100 km/h in less than 6 seconds.
Inside, the car uses many luxurious materials such as high-quality leather seats and glossy wood paneling. The rear seats can be tilted 45 degrees, equipped with weapons mounted on the car doors and many other special amenities.
Like the cars used by heads of state around the world , the Aurus Senat Limousine of the Russian President is also reinforced with the ability to resist bullets, grenades and mines. The chassis and body of the car are armored with 15mm thick steel, the front glass is 65mm thick, capable of resisting bombs, mines and direct fire. At Noi Bai airport, many Vietnamese and international reporters were present to report on Russian President Putin's visit to Vietnam.
