Sader's electronic information portal said that the Latin American country's agricultural and food exports in 2023 reached a record high of more than 51.87 billion USD, up 3.9% compared to 2022. Meanwhile, the import turnover of the above items reached nearly 44.3 billion USD, down 0.07%.
According to Mexican Minister of Agriculture and Food Víctor Villalobos, this is the first time that Mexico's exports of this industry have exceeded 50 billion USD, contributing to promoting economic development, creating jobs and increasing foreign currency revenue for the country. The Mexican agricultural sector achieved positive results thanks to the efforts of the value chain production sector, as well as Sader's efforts in finding and expanding export markets.
In the report, Sader said that Mexican coffee, tea, yerba mate, grapes, pickled vegetables, sauces and spices recorded the strongest increases in exports, with 63.11%; 36.93%; 35.71%; 21.98% and 16.68%, respectively.
In addition, Mexican agricultural and food products with the highest export value in 2023 include beer (more than 6.1 billion USD), tequila (4.4 billion USD), fresh and chilled tomatoes (3 billion USD), avocados (3 billion USD) and bread products (2.6 billion USD).
