Nghe An: Border Guards support in overcoming consequences of flash floods...

On May 29, Hanh Dich Border Guard Station (Nghe An Provincial Border Guard) sent officers and soldiers to coordinate with local authorities to Long Thang village, Hanh Dich commune, Que Phong district to visit, encourage and support people affected by the flash flood that occurred on the night of May 28.

Previously, since the evening of May 28, heavy rains have been occurring in Hanh Dich commune, causing water levels in some rivers and streams to rise suddenly. Realizing that the situation could become more complicated, the government and armed forces have promptly disseminated information and mobilized people in vulnerable areas to evacuate to safety.

The flash flood damaged many houses, properties and crops of the people.

Officers and soldiers of Hanh Dich Border Guard Station help people find their property swept away by flood.

At around 9pm the same day, a large flash flood suddenly occurred at Long Thang hamlet. Floodwaters from upstream of Pung stream carried rocks and soil, damaging many houses, crops and people's property. Thanks to proactive response, there were no human casualties.

Currently, Hanh Dich Border Guard Station is coordinating with local authorities and functional forces to conduct damage statistics and support people to overcome the consequences. In the immediate future, the unit has allocated funds to buy food and drinking water to promptly help affected households.
