People's Artist Thanh Hai passed away

NDO - People's Artist Thanh Hai passed away on the afternoon of May 26 at his home (Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City) after a period of serious illness, at the age of 68.

Musician Thanh Hai was born in 1957 in Hai Phong, in a family with an artistic tradition. Therefore, from a young age he was exposed to music and soon showed his talent for playing the instrument.

In 1976, he went to the South and continued to study guitar with many musicians such as: Van Vi, Van Gioi, Nam Co, Hai Thom, especially People's Artist Vien Chau.

From 1980 to 1989, he and People's Artist Van Gioi were in charge of the reformed opera music programs of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Radio Station and left a beautiful impression on the public near and far; in which the melody Vong Kim Lang, which was adapted by the two, stood out; many radio stations chose the first part of this melody as the theme song of reformed opera programs.

The special thing about People's Artist Thanh Hai is that he can play many different musical instruments at the same time such as: violin, guitar, zither, zither, monochord, etc.

With his skillful playing, musician Thanh Hai is one of the figures behind the success of classic cai luong plays. He is considered the number one student of the famous musician, People's Artist Vien Chau.

In 2013, People's Artist Thanh Hai participated in making music and performing in the A O Show program with thousands of performances serving visitors to Ho Chi Minh City as well as international tours.

It is known that People's Artist Thanh Hai was admitted to Nguyen Trai Hospital on April 18. Despite the active treatment by doctors, the musician's health continued to worsen, so his family decided to take him home.
