Artist Tien Dung passed away at the age of 65

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Thu, Chairman of the Tran Huu Trang Theater Union, after being taken to the Nam Saigon International Hospital (Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City) by his family for emergency treatment, artist Tien Dung passed away at 9:30 a.m. on March 16, at the age of 65.

Mr. Thu said that before that, artist Tien Dung's health condition was getting more and more critical, on the evening of March 15, his heart stopped, but his family still wanted to prolong his life. However, due to complications from diabetes, one foot had to be amputated due to necrosis, so despite being treated by a team of good specialists, artist Tien Dung still could not survive.

Artist Tien Dung's funeral, as planned by his family, will be held in Ben Tre province, his hometown.

Artist Tien Dung's most recent role in the opera "City of Dawn" was warmly welcomed by the audience. This opera is about the life, career and great contributions of the late Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet.

Artist Tien Dung started his singing career at the age of 16, starting with a backstage job for the Saigon 2 Opera Troupe. At the age of 18, he officially entered the stage when he joined the Truc Giang Troupe of playwright Nam Son. This was also the first teacher who passed on his experience so that he could perform many types of roles.

The first character that artist Tien Dung played was "The Brave of the Green Forest" in the play "Thoai Khanh - Chau Tuan". When he was noticed by the audience, he collaborated with the Truong Duong - Vung Tau troupe, becoming famous through the plays: "Love and hatred in the deep palace", "Dust of horse wind", "Sorrow of the border gate"... After that, he collaborated with the An Giang - Khanh Hong and Hong Nhung Cai Luong troupe.

Artist Tien Dung was guided by director Nguyen My - younger sister of the late comedian Quoc Hoa - to perform various types of roles such as unique, romantic, and romantic roles... and was loved by the audience.

In 1990, artist Tien Dung joined the City Performing Arts Troupe - the predecessor of the current Tran Huu Trang Theater. On this stage, he performed in the plays: "Not a Sand and Dust", "The Durian Tree Blooms"... and received praise.

Artist Tien Dung is also the one who imparts experience to many young actors, dedicated to his profession and devoted to each assigned role.

In 2019, artist Tien Dung retired due to complications from diabetes, organ damage leading to polyarthritis, peripheral neuritis, and difficulty moving.
