“Family in Opposite Place” is the return of director, Meritorious Artist Vu Truong Khoa, like a small low note among films full of drama, twists and conflicts.
The film tells the story of Mr. Phi (Meritorious Artist Hoang Hai) – a district-level department head who lost his job and retired early after a merger and downsizing. Being the breadwinner of the family, he suddenly lost everything: no chance of promotion, no job, no money. Not wanting his wife and children to be disappointed and worried about him, he chose to hide the truth.
But at the same time, many troubles happened at the same time to his family. The disagreement between him and his eldest son (Thua Tuan Anh) who was co-investing in a clothing business with his girlfriend who did not like him, the money pressure from his father and son in the countryside, the investments that could not be recovered by his wife, Mrs. Anh, and the climax was the appearance of a girl named Nhi, who was considered his "illegitimate child"..., made his family fall into a state of confusion and chaos.

The story of Mr. Phi’s family is a journey of understanding and sharing between close relatives, people who we think understand everything about each other but in fact, sometimes there are invisible gaps. Mr. Phi learns to accept his children’s individual journeys, and from there, together with the whole family, resolves conflicts.
This is also a story with everyday nuances, with funny situations, but it is also a journey of sharing, understanding and loving each other to overcome the storms.

The theme of family is a familiar theme in the films of director, Meritorious Artist Vu Truong Khoa. But in “Gia Dinh Trai Dau”, instead of choosing awkward, contradictory situations, he brought to the film a gentle color, both humorous and witty, but also full of philosophy. Director, Meritorious Artist Vu Truong Khoa said that he chose a close approach to bring the film's message to the audience. At first glance, the film will have a humorous color, with funny situations, but the film also has quiet moments, a level of calm for viewers to reflect on the story, on life, as well as on the life philosophies that the crew conveyed in the film.
This is also a rare film in which Meritorious Artist Kieu Anh shows her forte, which is also her main profession: a dancer. In the film, Kieu Anh plays Mrs. Anh, a woman who got married early, was pampered by her husband, and later also pampered by her children. Mrs. Anh is also a dancer who loves her job, but left her career to stand behind her husband to take care of the family. In the film, Meritorious Artist Kieu Anh showed the audience her very familiar dance scenes. Meritorious Artist Hoang Hai, who plays Mr. Phi, Mrs. Anh's husband, commented on his co-star: "No one else can play this role except Kieu Anh, because the dance scenes are not easy to perform."
Meritorious Artist Kieu Anh also said that as soon as she received the script, she immediately agreed to participate in the film. “I trust the hands of screenwriter Lai Phuong Thao and director, Meritorious Artist Vu Truong Khoa. Each of their films is very well-made and has certain resonance” – Kieu Anh shared.
However, because the role of Mrs. Anh is quite different from the roles that Kieu Anh has played before, she is also afraid that she will be hated by the character: "Mrs. Anh is the type of character who never grows up, is carefree, lives under the overprotection of her husband and I think the audience will hate this character."
Having played many different types of characters with turbulent fates, Meritorious Artist Kieu Anh said she felt she was quite suited to family films. “After two months of working on the film, I realized that my younger self had many similarities with the story of Mrs. Anh in the film.

The film script is also a factor that attracts Meritorious Artist Hoang Hai. He said that from the moment he read the script, he could not stop. “There are some scenes that are so emotional that we do not need to act. Through the hands of director Vu Truong Khoa, each scene is interesting. I believe the audience will see themselves in the situations of the film” – Meritorious Artist Hoang Hai shared.

The film also marked a new milestone for child actress An Nhien, the girl who caused a stir with the film "Don't Make Mom Angry". Only 8 years old this year, she plays Nhi, Mr. Phi's "illegible child". An Nhien innocently said that the director, Meritorious Artist Vu Truong Khoa cast her right away, only worried a little about her lack of height, even though the character An Nhien is described as a girl of about 11 or 12 years old. An Nhien also said that she was guided a lot by the director, Meritorious Artist Vu Truong Khoa, and her uncles, aunts, and brothers and sisters in the film crew to perfect her role better.
The film features the participation of artists from many generations, such as People's Artist Quoc Tri, Meritorious Artist Phung Tien Minh, artists Viet Bac, Manh Hung, Quynh Trang, Thuy Duong, Thai Vu...
“Different Families” will officially air on VTV3 starting from December 1st and broadcast at 8pm every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
