The workshop was implemented with four main objectives: Assessing the current development status of dance forms in current cultural life, from traditional, folk to modern and contemporary; clarifying the role of dance art in the process of building an advanced Vietnamese culture, imbued with national identity; proposing solutions to preserve dance heritage and encourage creativity so that dance works are more closely connected with contemporary social life; strengthening connections between generations of artists and art units, towards a sustainable development model for Vietnamese dance art.
At the workshop, many opinions focused on discussing the relationship between tradition and modernity in artistic creation.
Delegates said that the renewal of national cultural materials needs to be carried out carefully, both creatively and ensuring standards, so as not to fade Vietnamese identity in the global art flow.
Suggested approaches include: Exploiting contemporary social themes and transforming them into dance expression spaces; Applying stage technology such as LED, 3D mapping, VR... to enhance performance effectiveness; Referring to international experiences in preserving identity in the context of integration.
According to Dr. People's Artist Pham Anh Phuong, President of the Vietnam Dance Artists Association: "Integration opens up many opportunities for learning, but also places high demands on preserving identity. It is the national identity that helps Vietnamese dance art affirm its position and make its mark in the context of international art exchange."
Another important issue raised at the conference was the need to develop the dance art market in the era of cultural industry. Many works are still far from the public, especially contemporary dance.
To expand the audience, experts suggest: Building art programs suitable for each audience group; promoting communication and developing dance products associated with the creative market; expanding performance spaces in communities, heritage sites, and public spaces.
These solutions are expected to create a foundation for forming a sustainable dance art market, while enhancing the spread of art in social life.
It can be said that the rapid development of display technology brings many opportunities for innovation but at the same time also raises warnings.
Meritorious Artist Do Thi Thu Hang, former Vice Principal of the Vietnam Dance College (now the Vietnam Dance Academy), said the combination of the human body with digital space has created new visual effects, but it is necessary to avoid the trend of letting technology overwhelm artistic content and body language.
“Technology is only truly meaningful when it supports emotion and artistic expression. Overuse of digital can reduce the emotional engagement between artist and audience,” she stressed.

The workshop also agreed that developing high-quality human resources plays a decisive role in the future of Vietnamese dance art.
The main orientations include: Innovating training programs in an interdisciplinary direction, opening and updating new technologies; Encouraging international cooperation, academic exchange and artistic exchange; Strengthening theoretical research and criticism to orient development strategies.
With its ability to express itself non-verbally and its power to unite the community, dance is considered one of the fields with the potential to contribute to promoting the image of the country, people and culture of Vietnam to the world .
The workshop “Dance art and contemporary life” provided additional arguments and solutions to promote the sustainable development of dance art, while affirming Vietnam's role in the regional and international art flow.
