Nearby, the mother was attentively watching her child's every move, her face filled with worry. From afar, several naval soldiers quickly approached the mother and child, kindly asking about their health, encouraging them to strive together, overcome difficulties, and defeat the disease.
Those officers and soldiers from the 129th Naval Division (Navy) visited and gave money to support the family of Nguyen Le Nha Thy, born in 2013, who has suffered from cerebral degeneration and atrophy since the end of 2024. Thy is the daughter of Ms. Le Thi Ha, residing in Ward 12 (Vung Tau City). Ms. Ha and her husband do not have stable jobs and have an unstable income, so their situation is very difficult, especially when their daughter has a serious illness.
Ms. Le Thi Ha confided: “One day at the end of 2024, Thy had a persistent fever, her health rapidly declined, her family took her to Vung Tau Hospital for examination and treatment, but there was no progress. She was transferred to a higher-level hospital. After examination, the doctor at Children's Hospital 2, Ho Chi Minh City diagnosed her with brain degeneration and brain atrophy. At that time, my husband and I were very sad, we felt sorry for our child and ourselves, but we were still determined to treat our child. Then, she passed the critical stage but the consequences were long-term. The hospital allowed her to go home to continue treatment in stages, but she needed help with all activities.”

Since then, the family has had to take Nha Thy to Vung Tau Hospital every day for physical therapy to restore her functions. The family's difficulties and hardships have been compounded. Through mass mobilization activities and twinning to grasp the local situation, the mass organizations of the 129th Fleet have reported to the unit's leaders and commanders, and mobilized union members, youth, women's union members, etc. to donate funds to support Ms. Ha's family in caring for and treating Nha Thy.
At the same time, the 129th Marine Division also supported Nguyen Gia Bao, born in 2014, who was living with his grandparents because his parents were divorced. Meanwhile, Bao's grandparents were poor, weak, and sick, and had to rent a house in Ward 12 (Vung Tau City).
Lieutenant Colonel Le Xuan Tam, Deputy Political Commissar of the Navy said: “In recent times, Navy 129 has always done a good job in mass mobilization and policy work in the area; actively supported local Party committees and authorities in taking care of the lives of people in difficult circumstances. In the case of Gia Bao and Nha Thy, the unit organized visits, encouraged and gave financial support to the families of the two children. Although the amount of money is not large, it is the affection and care of the officers and soldiers of the unit, helping the families to reduce difficulties, overcome their circumstances, and stabilize their lives.”
