This school year, Hanoi has about 127,000 junior high school graduates. Candidates for the specialized classes will go through two rounds of exams. The first round is a preliminary round, based on the student's academic records, excellent student exam results and social activities.
Preliminary score = Excellent and talented student exam score (2-5 points per award) + academic record (2-3 points per year if achieving good or excellent academic performance). If the candidate achieves 8 points or more, he/she is eligible for round two.
The entrance exam takes place from June 7 to 9 with four subjects: Math, Literature, English and specialized subject. Candidates will not be awarded bonus or priority points. The admission score for specialized grade 10 is the total score of three subjects: Math, Literature, Foreign Language, plus the specialized subject multiplied by a coefficient of two.
In addition to the general education program, candidates can register for up to 2 specialized classes, as long as the exam schedules do not overlap. Successful students will enroll in the three days of July 10-12, and submit additional applications from July 19 to 22.
