The extracurricular session "Equipping skills to prevent drowning and injury accidents" of the Xuan Giang Primary School Union (Xuan Giang Commune, Nghi Xuan) was held right at the swimming pool in the commune and attracted nearly 300 students from grades 4-5 to participate.

With an engaging and attractive form of propaganda, combining theory and practice, students have a better understanding of the causes and potential risks of drowning; principles of safety when swimming; rescue skills, injury prevention...
In each propaganda content, teachers also presented many situations for students to directly participate in handling such as: encountering a drowning accident, first aid methods for drowning accidents...
“This extracurricular activity is an opportunity for the school to remind and warn students about drowning prevention. This is also a way to equip them with necessary life skills, raise awareness about ensuring their own safety against potential risks of accidents, especially drowning accidents…”, Ms. Pham Thi Thuy - Team Leader (Xuan Giang Primary School) informed.

Ky Thuong Secondary School (Ky Anh District) has just coordinated with the police force to organize propaganda and dissemination of legaleducation on traffic safety and order; drowning prevention, and forest fire prevention in 2025 for nearly 600 students, staff and teachers.
Senior Lieutenant Le Xuan Danh - an officer of Ky Thuong Commune Police said: "We have provided information and facts about drowning accidents and forest fire prevention during the hot season in the area and neighboring areas. At the same time, we have provided many situations for children to know how to handle similar situations, which is very important as they prepare to enter the summer vacation."

The extracurricular program with the theme "Water safety - survival skills" of Ly Tu Trong High School (Thach Ha) was recently organized and left a deep impression on more than 1,600 students. From the skit "Con do noi lo" recreating a drowning accident, students became more aware of subjectivity, lack of knowledge and swimming skills leading to heartbreaking consequences. After the skit, students participated in answering questions, discussing the causes and consequences of drowning, as well as the necessary skills when swimming. Useful knowledge was conveyed through the form of questions and answers, practicing drowning rescue and experiencing swimming techniques.

Tran Van Thang - class 12A1 shared: "The dissemination of knowledge on drowning prevention was organized in the form of dramatization and dryland swimming competition to guide swimming techniques by the teacher, creating an attractive playground. It helps us remember longer the knowledge and skills about swimming, about drowning prevention to ensure our own safety and skills to handle situations when rescuing drowning people."
With creative and flexible methods, in the last days of the school year, schools are strengthening drowning prevention education for students. This meaningful activity will help students gain more useful knowledge and skills to welcome a happy and safe summer.

In recent times, the education sector has closely coordinated with localities, relevant departments and sectors to strengthen propaganda on preventing child injuries, but many tragic drowning incidents still occur. To limit this situation, and at the same time implement the direction plan of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Education and Training has issued a document requesting educational institutions to seriously strengthen propaganda on drowning prevention for children, diversify forms to provide skills, and raise awareness of self-protection of each student.
However, in addition to the involvement of sectors, organizations, schools and local authorities, the most important thing is still the attention and supervision from families to protect children from the risk of possible drowning accidents.
