US Secretary of State praises Vietnamese cuisine

US Secretary of State Blinken said that Vietnamese cuisine has the freshest flavors and he had a chance to taste it during his visit on April 14-16.

"You can't visit Vietnam without trying the food. Vietnamese cuisine has the freshest flavors and we've seen the influence across the US, in our restaurants," US Secretary of State Antony Blinken wrote on his personal Twitter today.

Secretary of State Blinken thanked the Com Tay Cam restaurant in Trang Tien, after having dinner there on April 15. "So delicious!", he wrote in Vietnamese, along with an English caption.

The restaurant Com Tay Cam said Mr. Blinken chose spring rolls and clay pot rice with stir-fried shrimp and pork. Mr. Blinken also posted a photo of himself with the restaurant owner on Twitter.

Secretary of State Blinken visited Vietnam from April 14-16, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Partnership. This is Mr. Blinken's first visit to Vietnam as US Secretary of State.

During his visit, Mr. Blinken met with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and held talks with Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son. He also attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the US Embassy complex in Cau Giay district and met with lecturers, students, and scientists at Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

Mr. Blinken left Vietnam today, ending his three-day visit, and headed to Japan to attend the G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting. "Thank you to the leaders and people of Vietnam for welcoming me on my first visit as US Secretary of State," Secretary of State Blinken wrote on Twitter on April 16 with a photo of him preparing to board the plane.
