Regret Chelsea Le
The Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club is urgently preparing for the semi-final match of the Asian Cup 1, against Wuhan Jiangda Club (China) on May 21 at Wuhan Sport Center. The team is expected to train in Hanoi and play a friendly match there to prepare the team before leaving for China. However, the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Team will be missing one player, Chelsea Le.
Chelsea Le joined the Ho Chi Minh City women's team in March with a short-term contract, aiming for the quarter-final match of the Asian Cup 1 against Abu Dhabi Country. Despite only having a few days of training with the new team, Chelsea Le played well, contributing to the historic comeback with a score of 5-4 to reach the semi-finals of the Asian playground for the first time in history.

After that, Chelsea Le continued to shine in the National Cup with 2 goals to help the HCMC women's team win the championship convincingly. Unfortunately, Chelsea Le could not play in the final, but returned to the US to arrange her studies. Before coming to the HCMC women's club under a short-term contract, the midfielder born in 2001 played for Gonzaga University.
Initially, Chelsea Le was expected to return to Vietnam to join the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club to play in the semi-finals of the Asian Cup 1 against Wuhan Jiangda. The 24-year-old player was highly regarded for her expertise by coaches Nguyen Hong Pham and Doan Thi Kim Chi. However, up to now, Chelsea Le has not returned.
According to Thanh Nien Newspaper, the negotiation between the Ho Chi Minh City women's team and Chelsea Le has not found a common voice. "The problem is not money, but other agreements," the Vietnamese-American midfielder's family shared with Thanh Nien Newspaper. It is expected that after May 12, Chelsea Le will be able to arrange personal matters in the US to return to Vietnam. This means that the Vietnamese-American player will only have about a week to practice before competing with Wuhan Jiangda in the Asian C1 semi-finals.
Meanwhile, the HCMC Women's Club had gathered to practice beforehand. This is said to be one of the problems that caused the negotiations to be deadlocked.
"It's too early to say anything, but I hope both sides will find common ground. Chelsea Le really wants to play in the semi-finals of the Asian Cup 1. Chelsea Le has also had time to practice and compete to understand her teammates, so perhaps having fewer days of practice will not be a big obstacle," the source shared with Thanh Nien Newspaper. "There is still time, hopefully both sides will resolve the problem."
Chelsea Le proves her ability

The good news is that another Vietnamese-Canadian female player, midfielder Ashley Ton That Tram Anh, will still be present as planned. The girl born in 2002 left the team after the quarter-finals of the Asian Cup 1 to return to the US to take her university graduation exam, and is now ready to return. It is expected that Tram Anh and Nam Mi, a Vietnamese-Canadian female player who has a Vietnamese passport, will join the team in the capital Hanoi when the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club comes here for training.
Class is affirmed
Chelsea Le has proven her ability after only 2 months playing for the HCMC women's team. The player with Vietnamese and American blood can play both midfield and forward positions. Chelsea Le is good at dribbling, handling the ball neatly, and has good pressing and running skills after many years of honing in the US.
"I highly appreciate Chelsea Le's ability, so I hope her family will create conditions for her to return to Vietnam to compete," coach Mai Duc Chung shared.
After shining with the Ho Chi Minh City women's team, Chelsea Le is being interested in Thai Nguyen T&T Club.
The representative of the tea country also expressed interest in having the services of Kyah Le, Chelsea Le's younger sister. Kyah Le is currently playing in Division 1 in the American school football system, under the Utah Tech jersey. She was born in 2003, and also returned to Vietnam to try out for the U.19 women's team in 2019.
